Responding to another post on this general discussion by Cyrano regarding God's political affiliation today.
My brother Stewart is a poet/writer activist..and came up with this Title back in the Bush days 20 years ago. I begged him to rewrite it the first year of Trumps position of power. This is what he came up with back in 2018
What if God is a Republican...and leans to the Religious Right
Stirs up things in the middle East cause he loves a damn good fight
What if laughs at the plight of the poor and favors the monied elite
Amuses himself at the homeless despair...as he casts them out on the street
What if he dials up disaster and grief ...and orchestrates hunger and pain?
to hedge up his manifest holdings...and build on his personal gain
What if God blesses corruption...and churches are built on a ruse
and liars and thieves are rewarded..and virtue is only a muse
What if GOD is a Republican...and all of his talkers are too
And everything we've ever pondered...has now been revealed as untrue.
I posted his poem...'They Cheated - He Tweeted'... on another post..but 'tweeted' was misplaced as 'treated'.... check it out.
They Cheated He Treated
"They Cheated!" he tweeted, "I've been so mistreated" and thus he began his attacks,
He lambasted voting and honor and truth and bolstered his war on the facts.
He mangled all logic and twisted statistics and shattered the spectrum of reason
He bragged and he blustered at sad hate filled rallies, igniting his campaign of Treason
He cried and he lied and he slobbered and snorted. He huffed and he puffed 'til his face was contorted
He winced and he minced and he shouted demands....while clutching a bible in two tiny hands
he demanded his favors and claimed to be Czar...and turned on his handler, that Fat Fu#! Bill Barr
He filed and defiled and barked out his orders...And blackmailed and threatened his spineless supporters
Who nodded approval-those small frightened fools- while filling their roles as his weak Right Wing tools
But the people had spoken, the nation had stood, Democracy fought it's way back. They battled suppression
and Right Wing oppression and strongly turned back the attack
They voted in Georgia and Michigan too and then swamped Wisconsin and colored it blue
They flipped Arizona and Penn fell in place with Trump lobbing lawsuits in childish disgrace.
With a gaggle of lawyers and Rudy the Clown, they peddled fake panic from city to town/ Old Joe just stood steady..
with wisdom and grace....as the trumpies all threatened to burn down the place
With Nazi alarmists and lost mindless goons....and misinformed morons and Qanon loons....
They branded thier nonsense in MAGA tradition ......And saw nothing wrong in their new found Sedition
The nation was tested...but proudly prevailed....and welcomes it's shining new start..With balance and fairness
and honor and truth.....In place of what tore us apart
