This is what should have happened to save the economy.

Bail out people not businesses.

Give every American a monthly check of $2000 for 4 mos. Start there. For those that do not need it, you simply take it back in taxes next year if their 2020 income exceeded a certain level.

Businesses can apply for emergency bank loans

Force lenders to loan to their business customers through the Fed. Again, those businesses that don't need it will be forced to pay it back. Those do need it will be allowed to pay it back at a slower pace.

Allow for emergency bankruptcy protection

Individuals and businesses can be allowed to file for emergency bankruptcy protection which would freeze all payments to creditors for the period of 6 mos without penalty.

I think that we're headed for a second spike

I'm watching the news about gyms, hair salons, and pizza parlors re-opening in GA and FLA, and it's pretty clear to me that we are heading straight for another outbreak, a bigger, nastier outbreak.

I think that I am going to continue social distancing through the end of the year.

--Edited to add--

Trump will take full credit if we open up, and there's no spike. Trump will blame the states if we open up, and there is a spike.

State of GA will open gyms?!?!?! God no.

Some gyms that I know are so filthy, the virus itself will be on the bench next to you lifting weights, asking you for a spot.

Why aren't we coordinating our efforts with the G20, or at least G7, nations?

Some of the things that could coordinate:

1. Sharing and distribution of PPE equipment.
2. Estasblishing a test that can be distributed to all countries.
3. Clinical trials of treatment and vaccines.

And not to excldue other nations, I would work with a smaller group first and then extend the invitation to other nations. We don't have to start with the G20 or G7. We can start with just Canada and Mexico or maybe NATO. Or we can start with the U.N.

My point here is, why not work with other nations on this thing. There is strength in numbers.

Fox News Hosts Weaponize Disinformation AGAIN

Yet another example of normalizing extreme thinking Republicans. Bill Bennett goes on Fox News with completely incorrect information which leads him into a extremist opinion on the fight against this virus. After this is over, Bennett will be invited on mainstream media to give other opinions on other issues of the day.

Pakman does a great job at debunking this.

From the start, Trump has used multiple distractions...except one.

War or a military action abroad. Historically, war, or some type of military conflict, has always been used to rally support because by convention and custom, the American people want to seem to united behind our military fighting abroad.

Would I put it past Trump to launch some sort of action abroad in order to boost his election chances? No, I do not. Republicans rely on customs and traditions to advance their extremist agenda.

Bailing out busineses in a crisis is bad idea. Better to bailout people directly.

As I said at the time, it was better to give people checks for 3 months instead of giving it to businesses. That made more sense.

And if you were worried about rich people getting a check, just take it back in taxes next year.

Normalizing the protestors

Here we go again. Watching the media cover the sporadic, small protests in certain states, we are once again witnessing the normalization of right wing extremism which is now the core philosophy of the Republican party.

We are in this situation because we keep relying on custom instead of critical, objective thinking. Custom dictates that we be open-minded and respectful to people who disagree with us, which is a noble custom. However, we should not be forced to respect or give audience to those opinions that are in direct conflict to human life.

Objective, critical base thinking says that we should listen to accumulated evidence and facts and use that knowledge to decide the best course of action. The best course of action is to test everyone to gauge the full extent of the spread ot the virus. Once that information is known proceed from there.

These protestors want our government to "open" which will kill hundreds of thousands of us. These protestors should not be normalized. They should be called out for the extremists that they are, and the president should be damned and shamed for openly supporting them.

We need to stop overly relying on custom. Our lives depend on it.
