Why 75% of Republicans still support Trump having a role in their Party?

Basically, many are on a guilt trip. They saw what happened at our Capitol. They know Donald Trump was guilty of inciting the mob. And they know they are complicit.

So now they are in denial. They cannot accept their traitorous actions as unpatriotic and un-American. Many are struggling to rationalize their roles in the attack upon our nation's Capitol.

They minimize the insurrection, as Senator Ron Johnson has done, and say it was a big "nothing burger". But the self-deception and the lies do not change the facts.

No amount of rationalization can change the fact that they are all guilty. They can pretend it was a patriotic act and that they were showing the "libs" that they were not going to take it anymore and the next time they will be back with guns, but all the hot air and threats do not change the fact that they are all accomplices in an insurrection against the government of the United States.

Should Rupert Murdoch and FOX News organization be considered an enemy of America?

As America was debating what to do about the violent insurrection against our Capitol, Murdoch and FOX News, decided to play the other side and to lie and minimize the entire tragedy on his network.

I saw a report, perhaps it was on CNN's show with Brian Stelter, that reported something very similar to that fact. Although FOX and OAN are considered a part of our free media, they decided to oppose the facts of the attack upon our Capitol, as if they were working for an enemy agent? CNN reported that many Republican Senators may have been influenced by their reports?

It is dangerous ground to talk of censoring anybody, but they acted as an enemy of America. They were no different from Russia propaganda from Russian agents. Rupert Murdoch is no friend of America. He acts as if he hates this country?

The long journey of Merrick Garland.

He was nominated to be a Supreme Court Justice by President Barack Obama. Mitch McConnell, as Majority Leader, refused to give him a hearing. Lindsey Graham, Chair of the Senate Judiciary, said we should just wait and "let the people decide" at the next election. Donald Trump became the President at the next election and Merrick Garland never got the opportunity to sit on the bench of the Supreme Court.

Four disastrous years later, after three partisan Republicans were nominated to the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland was nominated by the new President, Joe Biden, to be his next Attorney General.

It appears that fate has played a strange hand with Mr Garland? Historically, his nomination to be the next Attorney General may be more significant and more important than a seat on the Supreme Court?

Coincidentally, Lindsey Graham is making a trip down to Mar-A-Lago this weekend to play golf with the disgraced and criminal ex-President, Donald Trump, to discuss the "future of the Republican Party", he says. No doubt, the name of Merrick Garland will likely come up? Does Donald Trump want a straight shooter like Merrick Garland going after his criminal acts? Will Lindsey try to intimidate or block him in his confirmation hearing?

As fate would have it, Merrick Garland will have some big decisions to make, in regards to investigations and prosecutions of Mr Trump and his Republican accomplices. Although revenge is a dish best served cold, it is probably not a thought that Mr Garland entertains? He will follow the law. He will support the FBI and the US Attorneys in their efforts to get to the truth.

The one question that might arise? Will he delay investigating and prosecuting until the Capitol Commission finishes their work? Although a "Commission" has not yet been established, it is highly likely that it will be.

The journey of Merrick Garland has taken a road that no one, especially Republicans, could have ever predicted.

A simple plan for how Republicans can take back their Party from the Trump cult.

Primary every single one of them that voted to acquit and to not certify the election. Make their worst nightmare come true. They were afraid that Trump was going to get them primaried. They should clean up their own house if they want to remain a viable political Party. They have shown themselves unworthy to govern.

What will Lindsey Graham ask Merrick Garland at his confirmation hearing?

We can only imagine.

Maybe it will be something like, "Do you intend to carry on these investigations of Donald J Trump?"

Do you plan on getting any more FISA warrants against Mr Trump or his family?

Are you going to continue these "witch-hunts" against the 'president'?

When Merrick Garland is affirmed, they will also need almost all of the US Attorney positions filled also.

It is then they will determine who and when to prosecute. There are pending cases in Georgia and New York, and possibly, Washington DC. The latter would seem to have the jurisdiction over the charges made at the impeachment trial.

Mr Trump would like Mr Graham to get the Judiciary Committee to call off the dogs and give Mr Trump a break.

The time is ripe for the re-branding of the political Parties.

I think we can agree that the words and labels of political Parties are not as important as the actions of that Party?

The trick seems to be to not let the other Party "brand" you, but to brand yourself.

If we were going to "re-brand" the Republican Party, they would no longer be the Party of Lincoln. They are not "conservative" in any sense of the word. They are the Party of Trump, not the GOP. They have truly gone to P.o.T.

They have become a Party that embraces racism and white nationalists. They desecrated our Capitol and did nothing to punish those responsible. They are unpatriotic and un-American. They are traitorous in their words and actions. They talk the talk but they don't walk the walk.

Of course, they would define themselves differently but that is who they are.

But, perhaps it is time for the Democratic Party to "re-brand" itself, also?

For strictly political purposes, the Democratic Party should become the new "moderate" Party, acceptable to the vast majority of Americans, when compared to the radical and criminal Republican Party. Americans are looking for something different from their political Parties.

After all, what is the difference between a conservative Democrat, a moderate Democrat, a liberal Democrat, and a far-left Democrat? Nothing, except the label.

The goal should be to attain a majority whereby a Democratic agenda can get passed. Even "conservative" Democrats can pass a progressive agenda if they have the power.

But how do you get that power? It comes from the people. For far too long, Democrats have allowed themselves to be branded by Republicans and the people have bought it.

This could be very long essay but I shall attempt to keep it brief.

If we wish to be the "Big Tent" Party, with equality for all, then we should be able to communicate that idea to the vast majority of Americans.

The bottom line is that names and labels mean very little. It is only when you gain the majority of America's support that you can do anything with the agenda that we celebrate. If calling it "moderate" sells to the American people, then I am all for it.

Whether we like it or not, politics in America is a war of propaganda. The Republicans under Trump are a disgraceful wreck of a Party. We should give America something different to vote for.

We should not be happy with a 50/50 nation. That is a failure under these present circumstances.

What's wrong with being a "progressive"? What's wrong with being a "Democratic Socialist"? Nothing. But many Americans would vote for an old yellow dog before they would vote for either.

Please take a few seconds and think about the political opportunity before you attack.
