Haley: Review abortion clinics

Source: The State (Columbia, SC) Paper

In a letter to S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control director Catherine Heigel, Haley asks the agency to “engage in a prompt and comprehensive investigation of the policies and practices of abortion clinics in our state, prioritizing those affiliated with or owned by Planned Parenthood, its subsidiaries, and its affiliates.”
DHEC oversees the state’s abortion clinics, including one in Columbia run by Planned Parenthood. Other clinics are in Charleston and Greenville.
“Over the past weeks, I have been shocked by recent accounts of unethical practices at clinics affiliated with Planned Parenthood, particularly those regarding the sale of human fetal tissue,” Haley wrote.

Nikki, the hero of the Rebel flag removal, returns to form by throwing some red meat to the base. Note the state only has 3 operating abortion clinics.

Great Facebook post

I'm beginning to really like this Pope. He sounds like a socialist just like his boss was.

Can I hide out here for a while?

My wife and I are both 90%+ sure that we will vote for Hillary in the SC primary (and remember that it was SC that basically propelled Obama to the 2008 nomination).

I got a notice the other day that I have been barred from the Bernie Sanders forum.
My crime?
I posted a reply in a thread which I didn't even realize was in the Sanders forum about a ridiculous and misleading post. The title said that more Democrats were now supporting Sanders than Clinton, but the body of the text asserted that Clinton would lose the election if nominated. I replied that the post was both misleading and ridiculous. Not a comment that really had anything to do with which candidate I supported or why.
While I could appeal and have this action rescinded, I decided to put the group leader on my ignore list and stay away from such a narrow-minded and thin-skinned environment.
I am a huge fan of Bernie's, and think he is possibly the best current member of the US Senate. I can't support him in the primary because I think Clinton will likely win the general election while I am afraid Sanders would lose. And, I think Clinton would be best able to carry on effectively advancing a liberal agenda.
I think the next election, with its implications for Supreme Court appointments, campaign financing and voter suppression may be a major turning point in our history. Following 8 years of Obama with 8 more of a Democratic President should destroy the very real threat of the Tea Party fanatics and give us a progressive government and a sane opposition party.
I feel confidant that we will all come together behind our party's candidate when the primary is over - the stakes are too high not to win this one.
Peace.

Gov Haley has called for the rebel flag to come down

Source: WIS-TV Columbia, SC

In a press conference including both US Senators the Gov said it is time to remove the flag from the Statehouse grounds. She said she would call the legislature back for a special session if they don't address it in the next couple of weeks when they reconvene to wrap up this years session.

Tribute for Emanuel AME?

I don't know if this is possible under the rules, but listening to the grieving families forgiving that 21 year old monster and not calling for revenge and retribution had a profound effect on me. I think it would be very appropriate, if possible, to consider this historic church (and by reference its membership) for the next Nobel Peace Prize.

request for Maine info

Sometime around the end of June I am going to take my 18 year old daughter on a high school graduation trip before she heads off to college. I told her we could fly anywhere in the continental US and stay 3-4 days. She chose Maine. I'm not sure why, but she said she has always been interested in the state and the fact that, unlike SC where she has lived her whole life, they have 'rocky beaches.'
Any suggestions on where we should fly into: Portland or Bangor seem like the most likely spots. I would also like to book a 1/2 day or overnight cruise to see some of the islands and coasts. I'll also be renting a car.
I book my own business and personal trips, but haven't hit anything that has inspired me on the web. I do have the AAA trip book on Maine.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
