The day I've looked forward to all summer is here.

It's cold, gray, and rainy outside. And I'm sitting by the window in bathrobe and pajamas, nice and warm, enjoying not being out in it. This is the icing on the vacation cake. Nothing to do, no place to go. Just relaxing.

The Washington State Fair, aka The Puyallup Fair, is going on right now.

Anyone ever heard the expression "He stayed too long at the fair"?

It's a euphemism for going crazy, or just adopting an indifferent outlook on life.

I kind of like it. It's humorous and at the same time, kind of poetic. Almost melancholy.

That's it. It was just on my mind.

My new employer doesn't require P.A.'s to pull call. Finally, no more 3 a.m. calls from thoughtless insomniacs.

"......AT THREE O' GOD-DAMNED CLOCK IN THE MORNING??? WHEN I'M TRYING TO GET SOME REST BEFORE ANOTHER HORRENDOUSLY BUSY DAY OF CLINIC???..."
