Uh, GOP - About Arming Teachers ...

For the past several years, you have vilified teachers as being overpaid babysitters, pedophile-enabling groomers, radical leftists who encourage their students to embrace communism, homosexuality, gender fluidity, and to spurn religion, patriotism, and American values.

Now you want teachers to be armed.

So just out of curiosity, exactly which teachers among the aforementioned do you think should be protecting our children?

Do you prefer the groomers or the communists? Do you feel that the lazy babysitters would do a better job than the trans-gender pushers? Do you think the religion-haters are more trustworthy than the America-haters?

As you've repeatedly pointed out, teachers are far too incompetent to design their own lesson plans, and far too stupid to carry out their professional duties.

Therefore, it's up to you to pick-and-choose who among this group of inept, anti-American, child-abusing traitors are to be trained as expert marksmen who will take down a school shooter - while the "good guys with guns" wait outside in the parking lot, handcuffing distraught parents who think those "good guys" should actually be doing something to save their children.

And just as an aside, Republicans - if I had spent years promoting the belief that an entire profession was full of incompetent, America-hating, radical leftist, pedophile enablers, the last thing I'd be proposing is putting weapons in their hands.

If STUPIDITY was a fatal condition ...

... Republican voters would be dropping like flies.

And if IGNORANCE is bliss, they'd all die ecstatically happy.

Everything But the Gun

In the past week, we have heard Republicans explain why easy access to automatic weapons is not the cause of mass shootings - actually, to hear them tell it, that fact is downright irrelevant.

What is most striking about their explanations is not their lack of quality so much as their mind-boggling quantity. We've now heard literally dozens of them: violent video games, broken homes, mental illness, peer pressure, gender confusion, anxiety, romantic problems, fear of rejection - even pot-smoking and abortion.

In other words, everything but the gun.

When your party's only strategy is let's keep throwing shit at the wall until something sticks, isn't it time to question why throwing shit is necessary - or, more to the point, why throwing shit is the only option?

Lies require constant edits, rewrites, revisions, newly-conceived interpretations, differing perspectives, changing stories, and "alternative facts".

On the other hand, the truth requires nothing more than being told once - and despite the outrage, the disdain, the denial of the GOP, the truth sticks to the wall just fine.

Mission accomplished?

If the gun-humpers across the country are trying to prove why it's necessary to regulate firearms, they are doing - you'll pardon the pun - a bang-up job.

Nothing says "we gun owners are law-abiding citizens" like an uptick in mass shootings immediately following a public outcry after the slaughter of schoolchildren at the hands of a gunman.

Nothing supports the "good man with a gun" myth quite like a gathering of NRA members refusing to allow weapons in the auditorium where their annual meeting took place.

Nothing screams "we are responsible weapons owners" like nation-wide headlines about dead Americans shot down by responsible, law-abiding citizens who turned out to be a tad less law-biding and responsible than previously advertised.

It's almost as though these gun-humpers want to be proven dangerous, want to be exposed as murderous lunatics, want to be revealed as bad guys with guns who pose an obvious threat to society.

I have to say that if their goal is to demonstrate why gun-humpers need to be stopped, they're doing an amazing job of achieving it.

The Party of the Brave

Republicans are more afraid of a teenaged boy wearing mascara than a teenaged boy buying an AK-15.

They are more afraid of school textbooks than they are of school shooters.

They are more afraid of atheists than they are of religious leaders molesting their kids.

They are more afraid of free and fair elections than they are of alleged voter fraud.

They are more afraid of home-grown democracy than they are of foreign-born terrorists.

They are more afraid of losing their 'white privilege' than they are of losing their country.

They are more afraid of being vaccinated against a fatal disease than they are of saving their own lives.

They are more afraid of honest journalists than they are of being ignored by FOX-News.

They are more afraid of Tucker Carlson than they are of Vladimir Putin.

They are more afraid of being called-out by Sean Hannity than they are of being called-up by the January 6 Committee.

They are more afraid of not being invited to Mara-Lago than they are of going to prison for attempting to overthrow the government they swore to protect and serve.

These are the courageous men and women of the Republican party, standing ever-vigilant against the tyranny of Jewish Space Lasers, the Gazpacho Police, windmills, scientists, facts and reason - and those revolutionaries who refuse to believe that a pussy-grabbing, incoherent, twice-impeached, under-investigation and likely-to-be-indicted Orange Anus is just the kind of leadership the nation needs.

Question for the GOP

In the past week, we have listened to your claims that mass shooters are from single-parent homes, are addicted to violent video games, are mentally disturbed, etc.

Being that you have now (allegedly) identified those prone to the violent behaviour that leads to killing innocent citizens - particularly school children - why have you not rushed to pass legislation that would prevent these "likely suspects" from acquiring the weapons that enable them to commit mass murder?

Why have you not even discussed passing laws that require extensive background checks on the millions of teens and young adults who play video games, and/or grew up in single-parent homes? Why are you not investigating their social media postings to look for 'red flags' indicative of mental instability?

If you've already determined who is most likely to open fire on a classroom full of kids, why are you not ensuring that this dangerous demographic is stopped from having access to any weapons - no less weapons of war that even well-armed police officers are afraid to confront?

"We know who the criminals are, but we're not going to stop them" is even more pathetic than just shutting the fuck up in the hope that no one notices what hypocritical wimps you really are.

Spare Us the Bullshit, Gun-Humpers

Those of you who claim that you need to exercise your Second Amendment rights in order to defend yourselves and your fellow citizens against tyranny, please be advised that no one puts any credence in your ability to do so.

The sane among us have no desire to be 'protected' by a bunch of yahoos who are too cowardly to go to the grocery store without packing heat, too intimidated by grandma walking her dog to drive down the street without displaying your weapons in the gun-racks of your pickup, and too god-damned stupid to comprehend that your Confederate-flag festooned vehicles are a symbol of the losing side of a war lost long ago.

'Tyranny' has come, over and over, in the form of mass shooters who have mowed down mall shoppers, concert attendees, nightclub partiers, county fair participants - and schoolrooms full of defenseless children.

And through it all, your ability to combat this tyranny has been non-existent. In fact, your response has invariably been to persist in your claims that you and your weapons are at-the-ready to protect the already dead.

Please understand that no one of sound mind believes they are being "protected" by people who attend NRA conventions where firearms are prohibited out of fear of the very firearms they claim are safe in the hands of law-abiding citizens.

No one with a functioning brain believes that they are being "protected" by people who can't trust their fellow NRA members not to slaughter them in an auditorium full of "good men with guns".

If you can't protect schoolchildren from mass murderers, it's pretty fuckin' obvious that your claims of protecting anyone are nothing more than the useless cries of flaccid-dicked, mentally-deficient idiots who believe that being gutless while children are slaughtered is a sure sign of manhood.

A question, Governor Abbott ...

Texas police officers in Uvalde refused to enter a school where a gunman was killing children because they feared they were out-gunned by the weapon he was wielding.

That begs the question: Why are you selling guns that literally render someone "police-proof"?

Why are you selling weapons that your own police officers are too afraid to confront?

Why are you selling guns that make their possessor a one-man army, capable of keeping even the best-equipped, well-trained police forces from coming anywhere near him?

You've said a lot about protecting the rights of law-abiding citizens to own weapons. That apparently includes weapons that protect them from being apprehended - even after they've proven themselves to be not so law-abiding after all.

How many schoolchildren need to die because you're too fucking stupid to realize that you are allowing sadistic, mentally unstable criminals to purchase weapons that bring your own police to their knees, too fearful to do a damned thing to stop them.

But hey, thanks again for proving that there is nothing dumber than a Republican, and nothing more dangerous than a dumb Republican in office - especially one who is willing to hand over control of his state to an AR-15-weilding teenager who legally obtained the weapon he used to bring down the idiot who insisted he had a "right" to own it.

BTW, good luck with that re-election campaign!

Just curious

There have been many posts over the past few years by DUers considering relocating to other countries as a result of what's going on in the US.

I'm just wondering how many DUers are contemplating relocating to "bluer states" based on anti-choice laws and/or tighter gun restriction laws.

I realize that not everyone is free to just pack up and leave states where they currently reside - but I do wonder how many here are planning to relocate due to the political positions of their state representatives.

ICYMI ...

Here's an interesting news story that got lost among more pressing matters of late.

I think we can reasonably assume that the "valuable information" that Joel Greenberg has been providing goes well beyond Matt Gaetz's possible involvement in sex-trafficking - waaaay beyond the transgressions of a single individual.

As I've posted several times (as have others), the GOP's playbook invariably includes projection - accusing others of what they are guilty of, i.e. a pre-emptive strike launched as a defense against what they know is about to be revealed.

I have posted my belief that all of the recent "Democrats are pedophiles/groomers" bullshit is proof positive that Republicans are about to be exposed as "pedophiles/ groomers" themselves - and I believe that Greenberg's information is confirming exactly that.

As scummy as Greenberg is, he has nothing to lose - and everything to gain - by naming names, and providing info that can be corroborated.

I think that a LOT of shit is going to hit the fan very soon - and Republicans are going to be covered in it.
