"I hope I was able to help them."
That's what Hillary will say to reporters at the close of House hearing #1,864 on President Clinton's e-mail server in December 2024
.
"The establishment" = Social Security, SSI, VA, Medicare/Medicaid, ACA, GA, EEOC, FDA, SNAP, HUD,
FDIC, AFDC, support for labor unions, support for LGBT and reproductive rights, FTC, FDA, FDC, and many other federally operated or regulated services and programs including, yes, the banking and finance sectors in addition to the mil-intel operations which, as objectionably massive as they are, have grown less so in the current Democratic administration.
That's a lot of moving parts to coordinate, which is not a game for amateurs or "deciders" who delegate day-to-day operations to a power-mad minister who can handle them. President Obama may not be the best delegater but that's partly why we're on the cusp of an economic expansion that not even FOX and CNN will be able to ignore: low oil prices, low interest rates, new industries, TPP (which will create new jobs in those new industries), and reduced military expenditures are eventually going to produce a widely-felt recovery that the next administration will likely get credit for -- as long as they don't blow it.
I don't think Hillary will blow it, but I don't know of any other candidate on either side who is up to the task.
“She’s got an open wound, and part of our job is to pour salt in it.”
That's Glen Bolger, head of the Republican polling firm that conducted focus groups for Karl Rove's Super PAC last summer to help him fine-tune the memes you hear every day, including:
* She's untrustworthy (cue the email server music!)
* She's out of touch (cue "Dead broke"!)
* She's a tool of Wall Street (cue speaking fees from Goldman Sachs!)
and many more. And not just AmericanCrossroads:
Crossroads is eager to establish itself as the leading attack dog against Mrs. Clinton, but it is a crowded field, especially as other super PACs are emerging as bigger players in the Republican money world.
All that money to beat one candidate. Lots more here: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/12/us/the-best-way-to-vilify-clinton-gop-spends-heavily-to-test-it.html
NYT: Karl Rove's Super PAC has been running attack ads in Iowa and NH since September
attacking one Democratic candidate, Hillary:
The new digital ad hitting Hillary Rodham Clinton is called, cheekily, Orange Is the New Black part a nod to the orange suit Mrs. Clinton is wearing in the Las Vegas news conference she held about her home-brew email server, and part a play on the Netflix series that features women in prison.
{snip}
The 30-second spot is the brainchild of American Crossroads, the Karl Rove-founded super PAC. The ad is starting on Monday to coincide with Mrs. Clintons visit to Iowa, and is part of a $10,000 buy.
The ad uses only footage of Mrs. Clinton and her own words at the August news conference during which she tried to defend her use of a personal email service while secretary of state. In a series of focus groups this summer, the super PAC found that using Mrs. Clintons words against her was one of the more effective ways of attacking her.
I dont know how it works digitally at all, a flustered Mrs. Clinton says in the ad, before the question, How could she possibly serve as president? flashes across the screen.

And in NH, from the American Crossroads website:
September 18, 2015 by Admin
WASHINGTON As Hillary Clinton tries a new apology strategy to put her email scandal in the rearview mirror, today American Crossroads welcomed Hillary Clinton back to New Hampshire with a digital ad entitled Orange is the New Black. The ad uses footage from Hillary Clintons infamous August 18th press conference in Las Vegas.
Why is he only attacking Hillary?
Did Bernie send out a fundraising letter making false claims of a "reported" attack against him?
Or is there actually evidence of such an attack?
White House reviewing Pentagon plan to close Guantanamo prison

The White House has received an updated proposal from the Pentagon to close the Guantanamo prison for foreign terrorism suspects, and is in the "final stages" of reviewing it before releasing it to Congress, an administration official said on Friday.
The administration has been trying for years to make good on a pledge Obama made at the beginning of his presidency in 2009 to close down the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, but has faced stiff political opposition.
Its latest plan, which includes a recommendation that prisoners who cannot be prosecuted or transferred to other countries be sent to a U.S.-based prison, has been delayed for several months.
Obama told the Pentagon to reduce the cost in its latest draft, which is now at the White House. "The president's national security team is in the final stages of reviewing the proposal recently submitted by the Pentagon," said the senior administration official.

This must be what he was referring to in his State of the Union speech. My guess is that he'll make it official just before leaving office.
Documented false statement by Sanders:

You can call it whatever you like.

Context: from HuffPost, Jan. 6, 2015:
USTR told HuffPost it had ramped up congressional outreach, and has held nearly 1,600 meetings on Capitol Hill over the trade pact. Senator Sanders, like all Members of Congress, has full access to the draft TPP negotiating text and we look forward to working with him to review it," USTR spokesman Trevor Kincaid said. "Members of Congress, labor unions, non-profits, and environmentalists have all played an important role in shaping our approach to our trade policy. This includes Senator Sanders, whose input USTR has received on a dozen occasions on issues ranging from clean energy manufacturing to cheese."
