ADA, Okla. — It was a case that stunned residents in a small Oklahoma city earlier this year – a resident told police he shot and killed his neighbor to keep the man from drowning two young children.

On Thursday, a little more than a month after the shooting, officials announced that the case is closed – the Pontotoc County District Attorney ruled the shooting was a ‘justifiable use of deadly force under Oklahoma Law.’

Developing now.

Looks like someone hit some people with a car, then jumped out and started stabbing folks.

Survivors of the Aurora shooting have to pay at least $700,000 to theater chain

http://theweek.com/speedreads/646024/survivors-aurora-shooting-have-pay-least-700000-theater-chain

After a settlement deal fell apart, four survivors of the 2012 Aurora movie theater shooting are left having to pay the Cinemark chain at least $700,000.

The failed settlement and financial repercussions were laid out Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times, which pieced together the story through interviews with people involved in the talks between the owners of the Century Aurora 16 mutliplex and 41 plaintiffs, including survivors and relatives of victims. A federal judge overseeing their case had advised the plaintiffs that they should settle with Cinemark within 24 hours. Another group of survivors had filed a state lawsuit, and a jury decided Cinemark could not have foreseen the shooting, which left 12 dead and more than 70 injured during a showing of The Dark Knight Rises. Because of that ruling, the judge said, he would most likely also find the chain not liable for the shooting.

Boy, 8, dies with 'skin falling from his body' after jumping into boiling hot thermal spring

How high, extensive, instrusive, and long should the barriers be at this and other places, such as national parks?

Maybe just put all the walking trails inside of unbreakable plexiglass tubes?

When visiting such a sight, is it the park's responsibility to ensure a child won't be killed or injured, or does the parent have to do a bit of parenting?

A question for the controller types here.

What are your thoughts on the new pump action ARs? These are legal in a ton of places with restrictions on semi sutos.

ISIS-linked hackers claim to release personal information of U.S. drone pilots

Prosecutors allege he tweeted the names, addresses, photographs and military branches of approximately 100 service members with statements such as "kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, stab them to death as they walk their street thinking that they are safe."
Assistant federal public defender Thomas Thornton says the charges involve "a 19-year-old kid tweeting and retweeting" from his bedroom.
