Now that we're involved I've started educating myself on what we're up against, and I'm horrified. There's no way that Trump understood the challenge when he decided to go with this. Apparently he learned nothing from Iraq or Afghanistan. Iran is bigger, more populous, and just as geographically challenging as either. Their neighbors are all willing to assist their cause. And the Revolutionary Guard makes the Taliban look like Boy Scouts.

In light of recent events, it's clear that Israel will be a topic of some discussion here.
So can we please firmly establish that pointing out that criticism of the political state of Israel and it's leaders is NOT anti-semitic? Most adults can keep that distinction clear, so can we refrain from knee-jerk accusations while this topic is on the table? It really would help discussions stay focused on what's happening today?
Anybody here old enough to remeber the beginnigs of US involvement in Viet Nam?
The reason I'm asking is: JD Vance assures us that there's no chance of a protracted conflict in Iran. So, how long did it take for VN to go from "no chance of protracted conflict " to quagmire? Just to get an idea of what to expect going forward.
Schumer has to go. HAS TO!!
No!! It's NOT his job to funnel unlimited resources to Israel. This has to stop! And those who motivate it have to go. I've really tried to be patient with thise who served for so long, but they've obviously become out of touch with current reality and don't seem to have much interest is getting reconnected. So it's time for some retirements.
US getting to 10k new cases a few hours earlier every day.
Noticed this negative trend in the last few days. We got to 10k at around 11:30 PM (EDT) on Tuesday, @ about 7:00 PM on Weds, and 2:30 today.
So I guess it'll be in the AM tomorrow.
Seriously - has there everr been a worse Oval Office address given?
I'm not old enough to remember all of them, but for the ones I do recall I can't remember one that was this lacking in substance, or as poorly thought out as Trumps.
Is anybody aware of one that could be in the same category as last night's D minus effort?

Is there any legitimate reason for 45's campaign to have been talking to Russian Intellegence.
Lots of discussion around 'Did he or didn't he?', how often, and about what WRT Flynn, and maybe a few other 45 staffers. But I haven't come across anybody wondering why the staff of any campaign would be talking to Russian Intelligence to begin with. And that seems like a really obvious question to me. How would such communication be needed? Do presidential campaigns often converse with the Intelligence people of adversarial countries? (Or even friendly ones?) About what? Why? It looks like it was treason in this case, but when it happens in a 'normal' way, what's going on?
What do I not know about this?
(And my apologies if I've missed a previous discussion or am overlooking something obvious.)
