Happy Thanksgiving DU, it may be our last

We know Donald Trump is crazy and breaks norms without a second thought. We also know he hates being criticized, which on occasion will occur here. Everything he does points to the fact he would love to be a dictator and silence his critics. We believe it can not happen here, but sadly it can. First, the Constitutional foundation.

The President's cabinet has no legal definition. It is only mentioned briefly in the Constitution, in Article 2, Section 2 with the words "he [The President] may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices" and in Section 3: "The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session." The Cabinet is also mentioned in the 25th Amendment "Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President." The action of the VP is also required for this to occur.

Our madman President has revealed his attitude towards murder and power in his response to the murder of Khashoggi. Over the Recess of the Senate, for the holidays, Trump fires the Secretary of Defense (as he has the power to do at his pleasure.) He then appoints himself acting Secretary of Defense and AG (or keeps a compliant Matthew Whitaker).

A false flag terrorist incident which results in the death of the Vice-President takes place and Trump declares a national emergency. He tells his supporters (who love the second Amendment) to take into custody all government officials who have committed treason by resisting him. Then as Commander-in-Chief and head of the DOJ, he orders the military and law enforcement to stand down and not interfere with his patriotic supporters. It is done.

Bye-bye DU

Can Trump act as his own AG and Secretary of Defense?

The cabinet has no legal definition. It is only mentioned briefly in the Constitution, in Article 2, Section 2 with the words "he [The President] may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices," and in the 25th Amendment Section 4.

... 3: The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

The real story about the migrant caravan

It has now been revealed that the United States government had paid spies and informers embedded in the caravan. In the tradition of following the money and who benefits, I believe the caravan was first organized by Trump and his operatives.

Many years ago I was a College Young Republican who supported Roger Stone when he ran for mid-west federation chairman. He taught us ANY dirty trick or falsehood was acceptable in politics. If it worked it was great. Roger Stone taught Donald Trump everything he knows about politics.

Think about the timing of the caravan. It was perfect for maximum impact on the midterm elections. Think about how big it was. It was not a couple of hundred people, as you would expect, it was thousands. On TV it was a river of people who could be made to look very menacing. Most of the leaders interviewed on TV were young healthy men, not women, and children who would evoke sympathy. After the election, they just melted away. Think about it. Look into it.

Pelosi battle to become speaker is a non-story

The vast majority of Congressional voters against Pelosi now have their cover. These Congresspersons got it when their letter saying they would vote against Pelosi became public. Most of them had to promise to vote against Pelosi to get elected in a more conservative area. They were elected on local issues but had to run against the national Democrats. Pelosi represented the national Democrats. Nobody in the House will announce they are a candidate running against Pelosi for Speaker. The signers of the letter can now tell their voters they kept their promise. They can tell their voters they tried, but they had no choice.

We are proud "Social Security Democrats"

Not Social Democrats or Democratic Socialist. Labels are important and Social Security is the bedrock program we inherited from FDR. And FDR is the father of the modern Democratic Party. Oh, my mistake, FDR is the father of the modern "Democratic Social Security Party."
