It is almost like the Republicans want the country distracted from a truly horrible

day 2 years ago.

My husband as well as myself keep getting invites to Republican stuff.

We are not nor have we ever been republicans. The latest is a gathering with desantos michels and their minions. We usually just politely text back STOP. My husband is losing patience and texted back to them
"What dumb fuck scheduled this in Green Bay the night of a Packer Bear game. Guess Michels isnt really from Wisconsin. Dumb shit"

Never posted here, but enjoy following ma.

I need to regroup and music has always helped with getting my head on. My grandson spends one week end now but with us. At night he and I calm down watching mellow streaming. Last night it was Neil Degrasse Tyson.

In the mornings wake him up to music. This morning it is Playing for Change on you tube. They play many songs of my past by musicians from around the world. Such great voices and all sorts of different instruments.

I will be back in the fight soon, just a much needed recharge.

Does anyone else wonder how many DOJ lawyers are members of the federalist society?

To the corporations that are offering to transport women to where the can have abortions.

Why thank you.

But maybe, you could withdraw political donations to politicians and groups who are making this necessary.
Or maybe you could pull out of states that make abortion illegal.

Because you know that not many women are going to tell their bosses about an unwanted pregnancy. So this offer costs you almost nothing.

And how are you going to deal with the religious fanatics that will require that you require that said women need to have a waiting period and watch a series of videos about the evils of abortion.

And are you going to provide babysitting for said employees other children while they have to travel and be gone so long for abortion that could be provided at a clinic in their neighborhood.

And what are you going to do about the crazy people who work for you who decide to dox their co workers for having abortion because they feel empowered by living where abortion has been made illegal.

I can picture the meetings that corporate America is having. A bunch of mostly guys saying yes, this will work, we can stay out of it for the cost of a taxi. Even though 70% of Americans want Ror v Wade to remain.

No corporate america, you are not allowed to stay out of this. You need to stand up to these religious fanatics. You cannot say you are helping by putting a band aid on aneurism. You need to do more.

And we need to insist on more from you.

Sitting here sipping an Evers Ale by the Minocqua Brewin Company

and every now and then glancing at the Bucks score. With everything such a mess I feel guilty, but I really need a break. It is in the upper 60's, the husband is grilling, perfect Wisconsin spring weather. Tomorrow back down to the 40's.

The can says 5% of all our profits go to the Minocqua Brewing Company superpac, or "dark money meant for good". Good beer and a good cause.

Buy this not that based on Ukraine.

I know there are sources that point out which companies are still doing business with Russia. One of them had Carter's kids clothes listed as still doing business with Russia. As the grandmother of a wonderful little girl who will be 2 in June I have in the past gotten her clothes from Carter. I am pretty much homebound, health and mobility makes going out difficult. I also have limited funds. I did read that gap and old navy do not deal with Russia. So I will be doing my shopping with them.

So many companies they show as still in Russia are companies I have never heard of. Perhaps someone has other practical advice for other purchases that can be made or avoided based on their stance on Russia.

So not just who to avoid, but alternatives with who to support.

Don't look up reviews are pretty negative. We really enjoyed it.

Am I getting paranoid? Has big conservative money gotten to reviewers?

To be fair, I am no movie expert. My husband, a movie lover, not only has to explain pop references and plot lines to me, but in our older age of hearing loss he has to tell me literally what actors have said. It works for us. I approach many films as I do baseball, occasionally looking up from my reading to ask what is going on. Its a flaw of mine, but I keep trying.

So when I saw Don't Look Up, I was so happy that we could enjoy the whole movie together. A rare treat in our 30 years of marriage. I mean, my husband was used to nudging me awake when I started to snore in theaters pre pandemic. And this was a movie that spoke to me as only the movies Arsenic and Old Lace and Harvey have been able to. A not subtle take on the crazy that has occurred. A take that had to go over the top of crazy to properly put what we are up against in perspective.

While it is ok to not like a movie, and a review is one persons opinion, the fact there are so many negative reviews scares me. Am I that out of touch to where "my fellow americans" are? One reviewer was perturbed at the movies take on climate change. Ummm. Or has big money and evangelicals added certain reviewers to the glazed eyed white washed mericunts.

I am glad I there are do many people on DU who also enjoyed the movie. And if there is anyone who was involved in the making of this movie reading this, I thank you for a few hours of laughs. I needed it.

My 10 year old grandson got his second covid vaccine yesterday.

I am so relieved. No big deal to him, life as usual. He is disappointed that he will still have to wear a mask, but glad that it is not as often. Hopefully soon the 18 month old will be able to get covid vaccinated. Then maybe this grandma will get a good nights sleep.
