Pepsi NEXT...Crusaders against soda pop? please skip this.

SOFT DRINK REVIEW No. 1
Pepsi NEXT
I have no business commenting on soda pops. I
rarely drink them. Still, it's much more frequent
than "never" which is when I will purchase a can
or bottle of Pepsi NEXT.
With 1/2 the sugar you have my attention. I am a
Pepsi man over Coca-Cola in any case so I welcome
the opportunity to enjoy a treat with a little less
sugar, actually HFCS which I still wish didn't exist but
no longer has me panic stricken.
The problem is the artificial sweetener Sucralose.
It is that fake sweetener flavor that ruins all diet
beverages whose makers are convinced that sweetness
trumps palatability.
Like I said...it's no sweat for me. I am not a
habitual soda pop drinker so I can afford to
"splurge" and have a regular Pepsi when I get
ready. Others though should be aware that Pepsi
NEXT, far from an improvement over either
regular OR Diet Pepsi, is instead a perfect blending
of what is wrong with the both of them. If Pepsi
really wanted to do us a favor they would release
Pepsi RAW with raw sugar or Pepsi HONEY.

You Might Be a 99%er.

If your Tupperware consists of a hundred
margarine tubs...you might be a 99%er.
If you have a seperate jar for pennies, nickles,
dimes and quarters to save time when you roll
change...you might be a 99%er.
If you tear of the "drip proof spout" to get that
last drop of laundry detergent...you might be a
99%er.
If you think that every teabag makes two cups of
tea...you might be a 99%er.
If you know how many miles past 0 on the
"distance til empty" display you can drive before
your car runs completely out of gas...you might be
a 99%er.
If you quit smoking and you can't understand why
you don't have all that extra money laying
around...you might be a 99%er.
If you have devised a method for emptying
vaccuum cleaner bags and resealing them for
further use...you might be a 99%er.
If you buy American cheese and cold cuts and cut
them into circles and serve it with saltines to your
kids in recycled Lunchable trays...you might be a
99%er.
If you hate a dirty car and only wash it on payday
anyway...you might be a 99%er.
If you dilute your shampoo...
If you wash your hands with dish soap...
If you clean everything in your house with hot
water mixed with a little windex...
If you ask your mom to get you toilet paper at
Sam's Club...
If 20 cents means the difference between one
thing or another...
If you are reading this...you might be a 99%er.

Don't be cruel.

There is a group of people in this country that
don't want to be countrymen. They want to be
Americans, but not countrymen of all the rest of
us. These people have prospered here, many of
them the product of generations of prosperous
Americans that have been integral to the fabric of
this nation. They have enjoyed their sucesses
because of the virtues of this form of
government, it's endorsed economic system and
it's ample population . Business was possible in
America and America prospered.
Now that there are too many people in this
country and a percentage of those are drains on
society the group that I'm talking about are
whipping the rest of us a little harder. They don't
really want to remain countrymen, certainly not
with the poor or working classes and not even so
much with the American Minor Aristocracy. A
great portion of their wealth is dispersed
worldwide, as are their direct and indirect labor
forces, so there is no real threat to their fortunes
if things go to hell in the U.S. for a decade or so.
These Americans see themselves as truly the Best
Americans.
A pity for the rest of us, the Lesser Americans,
that we won't ever know what it's like to be one
of them.
Somehow we've hung in there though. As long as
we were still allowed to be proud of America and
work our butts off to survive we have tolerated
and been tolerated.
Until now.
This is like the most elaborate game of Dungeons
and Dragons (with a game of RISK being played
simultaneously) that has ever been. The authors
of this fantastic reality have created such a lush
landscape, included such important elements from
previous scripts, sanctified such emotional
preoccupations and villified so many compassionate
emotional efforts that the Lessor of us have
bought in wholesale. Me. You. Wholesale. It IS
reality for us, the only one we're ever likely to
know.
It's not that I want them to quit or go away. I
just don't want them to be so cruel. I don't even
feel like they're being particularly cruel to me.
They certainly are cruel, just not specifically to
me.
No, they're being far far more cruel to their
minions. The lickspittle also rans, no different
from me or perhaps you, but flawed in one way
or another. Apologizing for the gluttonous
incomes and outsorcing of labor. Arguing that
taxes shouldn't be raised on anyone. Selling their
own retirement entitlements for an illusion of
responsible government spending while our wars
still drain the treasury. Temporarily Embarrassed
Millionaires.
I know that my side is getting played too. I know
that my votes have gone to unapologetically lazy
political whores. I know that I have been
idealistic. Up until this administration I thought
that I could at least count on votes from
Democrats in Congress, if not great legislation.
During the first half of this administration's term,
when great legislation was being bandied about the
supermajority splintered. The moment was lost,
because it had to be. This drama must be allowed
to continue to play out, like that game. Wins and
losses, battles and wars and crusades.
It is a pity that no one will ever know how it ends.

TELEPHONE CALL TO RICK SANTORUM

Ricky Ricky Ricky...it's not as bad as they say it is. Hey look...people love you man. Not everyone knows that you have a sick little girl that you've been neglecting. Lots of people have never heard of Bella at all.
Where will all of the devout evangelicals turn? Who will lead the righteous out of the gaping maw of iniquity and hedonism? How will the nation survive?
You, Rick Santorum, are the anointed one. God speaks directly to you...right? I mean he was there at the kitchen table with you and that woman who used to live with the abortion doctor right? Isn't that how it goes? One person can't get God to show up but wherever two or more of you are gathered to decide how to run the country and it's officially a seance right?
Romney is just like Obama...what are you saying by handing him the nomination? Come on dude...some of those Red Staters really want you to stay in it. Maybe you can do a third party candidacy! Ever think of that?
The Tea Party gladly nominates Rick Santorum...has a nice ring to it huh?
Hello? Hello Rick?
I think he hung up.

CLEAN SWEEP in 2012

I am not one to put the cart before the horse and normally I do not demand that change happen overnight but I have read enough incendiary rhetoric from the RW this cycle. Both the veiled and overt feelings about our President and our politics in general have become toothy and salacious. If the main focus of GOP voters is removing Pres. Obama from office then our focus must be motivating what I believe to be the majority of Americans.
The majority of Americans believe in a woman's right to choose, the right of two consenting adults to marry, every citizen's right to serve their country without shame, the right to plan parenthood and that Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness is less a bumper sticker slogan and more a primary role of government in our lives.
Fiscal conservatives are not evil.
People who think government should be smaller aren't evil either. Think of how much smaller our government could be if we didn't have to maintain the thousand foreign military installations we have built up over the last sixty years.
There is room for debate between the Left and the Right. That balance is what made this country mighty. It wasn't the bomb. That is what planted the seeds of fear and resentment around the world.
If you know someone who has given up, if you know someone who has never registered, if you know someone who needs a ride or just a hand getting on their feet PLEASE take the opportunity to help us keep the White House and to take EVERY available seat in Congress. Don't forget those state and local contests either. Vote your conscience. Vote your interests. But whatever you do...VOTE this year.
