Apparently huffington post front page is now Donald Trump advertisement.

Going overboard is not good policy for a blog web site.

White Republican Senators block black Librarian of Congress

Has President Obama's nomination of Carla Hayden to serve as the nation’s 14th Librarian of Congress hit a roadblock? According to a report on Politico.com (and independently confirmed by PW) an anonymous Republican hold has been has placed on Hayden’s nomination, keeping her from a final confirmation vote before the full senate.

A highly respected and accomplished librarian, Hayden, currently CEO of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, would be the first woman, and the first African American Librarian of Congress. She will also be the first professional librarian to hold the post in over 60 years.

Contacted for a statement, ALA president Julie Todaro criticized the hold.

"The Senate Rules Committee, leading technology and entertainment trade associations, library associations in every state, colleges, universities and respected public interest groups of every political stripe believe Dr. Carla Hayden to be uniquely well-qualified to serve Congress and the nation as the next Librarian of Congress," Todaro said. "Any Senator who disagrees has the right, opportunity and, frankly, the obligation to do that in public and with specificity on the floor of the Senate."

Texas Court Rules ex-employee owes former employer $100k for leaving job early.

Contracts are the new slavery.

The pact Rieves signed divided her pay into two categories, regular pay and “retention pay,” about a third of her total compensation. The contract, as well as a similar contract Rieves signed a year later, allowed Buc-ee’s to recoup the retention pay should she fail to stick around for the 48-month term of the deal. The contract also required Rieves to give six months notice before leaving, which she said effectively extended the term to 54 months.

Months passed with no word from the company, and Kelly settled into her new job. Then, in 2013, Buc-ee’s sued Rieves for every cent of the retention pay she earned during her nearly three years there: $67,720.29.

The grand total now approaches $100,000.

The UK parliments can nix the exit from EU

This vote was just a referendum and is not legally binding on the Parliaments. The UK parliaments should not approve any legislation to exit the EU. An exit from the EU would be a horrible choice for the UK and all of Europe. This would be no different then Texas having a referendum to exit the US. Congress could fail to make any law or constitutional amendment regarding Texas exit from the Union.

If Paul Ryan would just close his eyes & stick his fingers in his ears...

the sit in would disappear.

I hope this post doesn't violate the no kooky posts rule.

Well Donald is down in all polls with Hillary by 3-5 points

A lot of good it will do him to ban the press from his campaign. Even with the silly libertarian Johnson running she leads by 4 points.

Am I the only nerd that watches Book TV on C-Span 2?

I really like listening to intelligent people talk about their books, politics and things going on in the world.
It sure beats the Talking Heads on the 'news' channels ranting and screaming at each other for a paycheck.

Pink Slime is back in your ground beef and school lunches

http://www.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303749904579579991127674958

This is not beef but the left over connectivity tissue found in the animal after it has been slaughtered. The manufacture uses a large amount of ammonia to process it into pink slime. This product is illegal in Europe and Canada, but anything goes in the USA.

ABC News is still being sued by the manufacture for a previous report so the news media will no longer report on the subject to avoid costly litigation.

Cops are gang members with a badge.

The officer that was called out is now facing suspension for the sexual and racial comments in what now is a he-said, he-said within the department that is already under a lot of scrutiny.

Gary Delagnes, President of the San Francisco POA for a decade, and a consultant with them for three years now, took his frustrations to Facebook.

“Officers are now being encouraged to be trained snitches on one another,” he wrote.
