I was wondering how much was fact and how much was fiction? While in college I took an African American studies class under Dr. Gwen Fortune a black professor in which I learned that for the most part the slaves were not mistreated many were treated as family members and given titles as aunt and uncle.
I do not condone slavery but for the most part I believe that most whites treated their slaves as part of the family. I do not believe that the human condition is that evil.
This is not to say that some are evil , but that was the exception rather then the rule.
Its Easy
It's easy to not take a firm stand on anything out of the mainstream but then who would be manning the barricades.
Think about these issues fellow DUers all very unpopular at one time or another

2 womans rights
3 right for minorities to vote
4 right to say or publish what you want to ie. Lenny Bruce
5 rights to public accommodations

Are the people who make up the DU juries the same people who would tattletale on you for talking when the teacher was out of the room?

What is it with Texas? WHILE WATCHING THIS LATEST fiasco in the house I saw a disproportionate number of house members from Texas whining about the presidents policies and poor kids. Isn't Texas the state where they care about kids only until they are born.Your Governor is an asshole ,your previous Governor was a bigger asshole(Bush) your congressmen with the exception of a few are the nuttiest members of congress not including Bachman and King.

Arabs killing Jews,Jews killing Arabs .....how long can this continue before people wise up and say enough. When all the arabs or jews are dead?
I don't get it ,what purpose does it serve on either side. Who has a better life as a result of all this murder, Who is making a better life for their children?
As a Zionist jew i've had enough....we gain nothing by killing arabs.That is not to say that I have any use for Hamas , I find them a murderous group of thugs but killing them serves little purpose.I do not believe we can kill enough of them to make any difference there must be another solution.

Last night when discussing the politics of Lindsey Graham a Friend told me there is nothing worse then a self =hating gay person
(some people regard this as a slur) I said I dint know for sure if that is right .Can i get some feedback from the DU community with regard to this question?
