swong19104's JournalDAX, FTSE, HSI, N225 all up
But the DJIA, Nasdaq, and S&P500 all took a shellacking. Gee, I wonder why.
Start documenting!!
Now is the time to document things. You know, the "before" so that we can compare to the "after" as in after 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, and so on.
You know the Trump administration will play politics with data such as employment, hiring, and such. Those are hard for the average person to verify.
But there are plenty of things that are easily verifiable, but we don't bother to document them. Grocery prices for example. We can track the price of eggs, for example, by taking a photo of the listed prices today.
Date, location, what else? It would be ideal for each and everyone of us to document this, going to the same store or gas station or wherever. Track the same thing. If it's unleaded regular, paid in cash, then it's always unleaded regular in cash. One could just take a photo of the gas price signage so it includes regular, 89 octane and 91 octane and paid via cash or credit card.
Maybe DU can create a database directory for us to upload the photos and someone can go through them and enter the data into a spreadsheet for analysis.
Colonel Sherburn
I've been (re-)reading Huckleberry Finn and got to the chapter regarding Colonel Sherburn. In reading that chapter, as well as prior chapters (and -- since I've read the book numerous times -- subsequent chapters), it appears to me that the America of Mark Twain's time: the drunkards and grifters, petty grievances, extreme prejudices, abhorrent racism, and all the low-down most animalistic law-of-the-jungle mentality; succinctly captures the present-day MAGA members. One-hundred-and-sixty-plus years and no one has learned a damned thing. What a disappointing and dismal shame.
Groundhog Day and the 2024 VP campaign
It seems to me that Bill Murray's character in Groundhog Day, Phil Connors, is like JD Vance at the start, but at the end, is like Tim Walz. I guess it takes a person to evolve over enough lifetimes to become a better person.
I am unable to reply to a post
on a thread because one of my prior post has been deleted or something. I don't know how to correct it. Any suggestions?
On two different browsers, Safari and Brave
I cannot see the DU home page. That is, I can see parts of it, but the main body with all the recent articles and links, it's just a blank white space.
Does anyone else have this problem? I can see it on Firefox and on Safari on my phone.
