Republicans really do need to get off their asses...

They are acting totally reckless and irresponsible. But, maybe they are not acting?

But, it is not like America needs a Congress.

They cannot continue to sit on the sidelines as our country is trying to help Israel remain a strong country in that part of the world. Most Americans believe that Israel is a vital interest to America and we should stand with Israel at this difficult time.

Just, as many believe it is in our nation's interest to help Ukraine defend themselves from the Russian dictator.

They say they want to shut down our government because it spends too much. They fail to look in the mirror.

In my opinion, it is unpatriotic to not show a united front at this time. It is unpatriotic to praise Hezbollah and the terrorists and to blame it all on Israel and/or American intelligence, or lack thereof. Just as it is unpatriotic to take the side of Putin in the war with Ukraine.

How much longer must they sit on their asses? All they seem to want to do is play victim and to blame someone else for their insane predicaments. They support their Party, no matter what - even if they become criminals in the process.

In magnitude, the most brain-washed "Cult" in history?

You could put brown shirts on all of them and they would say it was only part of their uniform. They believe nothing that comes from Democrats or the "lamestream media". They believe nothing that doesn't come from the mouth of their Leader.

Nothing matters except what their Leader tells them. They do not care one whit if there are four indictments and ninety-one criminal charges. They dismiss it out of hand. They are a Cult of Personality.

If their Leader is not on the ballot, the true "cultists" will not bother to vote. They will only put on their silly hats and wave their silly flags and call it a "conspiracy". When their Leader leaves, they will go back under their rocks. They will have no interest in "corrupt politics".

They are incapable of thinking for themselves. And when their Leader is put away, they will not think at all. They will only be a sideshow in the back tent at the circus.

Jim Jordan for Speaker is the Defendant's idea.

You can bet that the Defendant is lobbying hard behind the scenes to persuade the gullible Republicans to put Jordan in charge of the House.

What could Jordan do for the Defendant if he was the Speaker?

Could he persuade enough of his caucus to cut off funding for the Justice Department and all investigations? That is likely the primary reason the Defendant is so interested in Jordan as Speaker?

We notice that Jordan did get more votes on his second try, which might indicate some back-door politicking? But, he is far from enough to lead the House of Representatives.

In reality, the Defendant is grasping at straws.

He is back where he started. He wants all the investigations shut down and the courts to throw out all the charges.

Because it is nothing but a witch hunt, he says.

But Jim Jordan is not going to save him.

I am superstitious about solar eclipses..

I remember the one in late August of 2017. It went from one coast to another and came out somewhere in South Carolina.

Less than a week later, the people of Houston were experiencing one of the worst hurricanes they had ever seen, mostly with the flooding. Then a week later, a hurricane hit Cuba and part of Florida. Then another week and Puerto Rico was hit by Hurricane Maria. It was devastating.

Of course, we are not in hurricane season at this time, but who knows the effect of gravity upon our Earth? Or the change in temperatures in the dark path of the eclipse?

Maybe this time, it will be a positive change?

The reason Trump is pissed off about the war?

He can no longer control the media.

The war has replaced Trump as the number one story in America. That's not good for the Defendant's strategy to have his trial in the public arena, rather than the court room. His lies might work on a huge number of Americans, but they will not work in a courtroom.

He understands that very well.

So, what does he do to try and steal back the attention? He praises terrorists and criticizes Israel and her leaders. He says that Hezbollah is "very smart". He never ceases to fan the flames.

Trump's choice for Speaker, Jim Jordan, only receives 99 votes in secret ballot...

How should we interpret that?

Less than half of the Republican caucus now support Trump?

Or they could not bring themselves to vote for Jim Jordan?

Either way, it shows that Trump's strength has diminished in the Republican House, in my opinion. After all, more Republicans voted to not certify Biden for President, than voted for Jim Jordan for Speaker.

The question that remains: Is Steve Scalise that much different from Jim Jordan? Will he be a puppet for Trump, like Jordan?

Perhaps he will, but the vote in their caucus would indicate that the majority of Republicans wish for him to take a different direction. It must be very disappointing for the criminal Defendant?

Make no mistake: Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz are working with Trump to take over the House...

...by putting in Jim Jordan as Speaker.

Matt Gaetz opposed Kevin McCarthy at the behest of Donald Trump.

He was on Meet the Press this morning and said he would vote for whomever got 51% in a secret Republican caucus vote. He expects Jordan to win that vote.

However, the rules state that the full House must vote for a Speaker. That means whomever the Republicans choose in secret must be able to garner 218 votes in the full House. That will not be so easy, in my opinion.

The vote will really be about which Republican has a spine and which does not?

Why did Trump attend his civil trial in New York when he did not have to attend?

Did he see it as a political opportunity to campaign?

Or did he see it as a means to persuade the judge to rule otherwise in his case?

Or did he think that by the third day, his supporters would have shown up in huge numbers to protest for him?

As they say, "in crisis, there is opportunity".

He must be hoping that with this crisis in Israel, the Justice Department does not take it as an opportunity to warn him of his threats and put him on a "gag order", with the real threat of going to jail?

The day that he must sit in a courtroom and answer for his crimes is getting closer and closer. The madness and desperation are on full display.

Should US send in 101st and 82nd Airborne to assist Israel?

I am no military authority but I would assume this discussion is on the table.

Can you imagine 10 missiles hitting in your neighborhood? Can you imagine 100 missiles hitting the homes of your friends and family?

Hamas is saying that they fired 5000 missiles into Israel yesterday! It is unimaginable the degree of damage that has been done.

It is the worst attack on Israel since its formation as a country.

Some may believe that Netanyahu is not worthy of our support, which may be true, but Israel has been our most reliable ally in that part of the world for many decades.

Why are there not more Republican announced candidates for Speaker of the House?

They have only Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise?

I would think a more moderate Republican might be able to negotiate a compromise with Democrats and take over the Speakership. Do Democrats think that Hakeem Jeffries might win with the division in the Republican caucus? I doubt that will ever happen.

If there is not an almost unanimous choice for Republicans, isn't it very likely that Patrick McHenry will continue to be the "acting Speaker"? Six months from now, he could still be the "acting Speaker", in my opinion.

They will not permit a Democrat to be Speaker so long as they have the majority. Do you think the Democrats are working behind the scenes to get a Speaker they can work with?
