got any good irish jokes?

i'll start-

what's irish and stays out all night?

paddy o'furniture.

planning a trip over there, and learning the drinking songs, and the rebel songs, so the jokes are the next logical step.

tracing my tree and having a blast. going to get my dual citizenship first. entitled on both sides. but after looking up the names from the rebel songs, i think i could test in.
now if we can get this plague under control on both side, i can start shopping for plane tickets.

ok, how about a cooking tip? dried beans.

i buy bulk dried beans for about 50¢/lb.
when i make something w them the 1st time, i toss the whole bag in the pot, bring to a boil, let go for about 10 minutes, turn it off, and let cool.
then i take whatever i dont need for that recipe, bag them up, and put the rest in the freezer.
one bag is fine. you can give them a smack, and they separate out.

they come out ready to simmer for a bit and be edible, or to make something like chili or soup, that takes a long cook.
i like to make black beans and eggs. i brown them up in some butter, cover w tomato juice, some salsa. simmer for 15 min or so, then crack a couple eggs in the middle. put a slice of cheese on top, cook for another couple minutes, and voila. cheap, easy dinner.
bigger beans need a little longer.

as fast as canned, but still have a better texture after long cooking.
also, i love my dehydrator. i slice up tomatoes and dry. intensifies the flavor. when you use them, they are like using paste.
a sweet onion comes out like candy. and cherry tomatoes? i kid you not, i put them in my xmas cookies.
great for mushrooms, too. perfect for mushroom gravy.

ok y'all liked my last tip, so here's another- wood cleaner.

so, i use olive oil shampoo and conditioner. available in the 'black hair' section of most drug/grocery stores.
a tbsp in a quart of water makes a great wood cleaner. a little, straight, on a cloth or a scrubbie, and it will take off any kind of stain, including water rings.

spray it on, let sit a few, and wipe off w a damp cloth.
then do the same w the conditioner for a great sealer/polish.

i have a kick ass steamer. i use it for everything.
spray down a wood floor, run the steamer over it, run a wet mop over it, then treat w the conditioner.

i hate to clean. but i got the lazy woman's cleaning chops.

here's a great cleaning tip- anything white vinegar can do,

ascorbic acid aka vit c, can do better.
a 1 gm pill in a quart spray bottle w water will clean anything but a dirty mind.
if you have chewables you get the benefit of another acid. citirc acid is the flavoring.

spray that shit on, let sit, rinse off the grime.
toss on in the tank of your toilet, no more build up.
a shot of dishwasher detergent and it takes off all the protein stains too. barely needs brushing,

well i found an irish cousin. adopted. also, this guy-

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Dwyer

tracing my roots and having a blast.
found an adoptee, and i am her first blood relative that acknowledges her. she found her mother, but she wants nothing to do w her.
i am def on her dad's side. and boy howdy are we peas in a pod. now she has over 100 cousins. chatting it up on fb. cant wait to meet. i am planning a trip over there, but have her almost talked into coming here. she is the same age as my 1st born.
close cousin, too. 3rd to 5th the dna says. since i am 3rd gen in america, our common ancestors may have been 1st or 2nd degree.

but the rly exciting thing is that dude. my mother's maiden name is dwyer. i cant find a direct link yet. i can find his descendants but not his ancestors.
but here's the thing- he went to australia. that's where all his direct descendants are.
using 3 dna sites and they all show me more 3rd-5th cousins down under that on the olde sod.
and again, 3rd gen in america, so....

it is crazy empowering to know what you come from. all i knew before i started this was the poor ppl in my tree. my grands came here as famine refugees. in steerage. and i grew up poor.

now i know why every time i join an org, i end up on the board. i always thought it was cuz i was a sucker looking for acceptance.
i found a cousin in my gramps home town. we got chatting and he mentioned that the castle/b&b in the town, that i was planning to stay in, was haunted. i said-cool. my family has a banshee. she told my da when his brother died.
cousin georald told me that my da's family was a powerful one back in the day.

so, both sides. holy shit.
