hootinholler's JournalI for one am glad that camp weathervane is attacking Bernie supporters
When I say camp weathervane I'm not just talking about DU, either.
It really means they got nothing to attack Bernie with. So if they want to call me a racist misogynistic volvo owner and all around general poopyhead. Fine with me!
They. Got. Nothing!
It means their candidate's policies don't hold a candle to Bernie's. It's obvious their candidate has a history of evolution driven by focus groups and the political winds.
Go ahead. Bring it. I'm happy to be Bernie's surrogate target for the poo flingers.
In the end, when Bernie is nominated, I can shower and watching the steam leaking from ears will be some sweet schadenfreude.
I'm off to my weekly meeting of Bernie supporters to figure out ways to get the word out.
No matter who you vote for, Won't you please join Bernie's revolution?
Seriously, I think I've had an epiphany.
Bernie is building an amazing grass roots organization. Without regard to what happens in the primary we will represent a large nationwide progressive voting bloc.
Obviously I support Bernie and I think he will gain the white house, but the Bernie I've come to know would not let a little thing like losing a primary election to dismantle what is being built.
I think it actually could be as formidable as the evangelicals were in the 80's, and that we can actually change what we as a country are all about. If we allow it to fall apart, there is no hope of solving the problems we face.
No matter what happens or who you vote for, we need to use this opportunity to create the structure that will ensure the movement's survival so we can work towards our goals of a better world for our children.
A very interesting post in Populist Reform Group
RobertPaulson (remember him?) posted some research.
Be sure to go to his blog for the full story!
DAYUM Dude Everyone needs to read the whole thing.
I just got the time to read the whole piece.
My favorite lines:
That's just it! Nail meet Hammer and 50 other cliche'd utterances.
Thanks for a cogent reminder of what to expect. I'd love to hear any ideas you have about the forms those attacks on Bernie might have. Forewarned is forearmed, eh?
Oh, BTW I can't allow myself to think about your last paragraph, I would go mental.
Come join us in the Bernie group as well.
Why Bernie matters
More.
Bernie has consistently called these guys out. Together, we can break the oligarchy* and accomplish so much more to improve the lives of so many.
Join us.
*: Jimmy fucking Carter called the US government an oligarchy so I don't want to hear any shit that we aren't.
So I called Bernie's campaign last night
I just didn't want him to miss out on all of the great advice he's getting here from camp weathervane because I know he can't afford to focus group all of his positions before he states them.
I think they are packing up and going home since they finally recognized that they can't possibly win.
How the fuck should I know? I'm just a lilly-white middle aged fat guy.
I don't know what to make of this whole BLM dustup, and by that I don't mean the BLM organization or the facts that prompted it, but the current brouhaha smells like a political operation.
The Bernie don't like PoC notion started from the right the day he held his announcement rally. It was picked up by some of Hillary's surrogates and echoed by her supporters "not good enough," etc. WARNING: There is a graphic photo of a black man portrayed as a hunting trophy at that link. A despicable (IMHLWO) attempt to subliminally associate Bernie with racism. Now it's morphed into Bernie isn't humble enough whatever the fuck that means.
Mean while, since before the not good enough thing, Bernie has been talking about these issues, but apparently he hasn't been heard. For instance, regarding Fergusson on June 6th:
Even earlier in August of 2014, and since, he has repeatedly pointed out the evils of the prison industrial complex, the effects of militarized police, but all that is discussed is that he only speaks to economic justice like they aren't intertwined. That all seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
And a number of times including today on MTP when Chuckie Toadlicker set a false preamble to his question on social justice.
Yet, after Bernie said explicitly what has been implied and I thought was understood, is being represented as Bernie finally reaches out to the black community. All I can really say about that is go figure, but then again I'm a middle age lilly-white fat guy, so what the fuck do I know about these things, but I am happy that his message about social justice is finally being heard.
From my side of my lilly-white filter, it all sounds rather contrived. Like a couple of BLM activists were egged on and caught up in their passion for their movement? Fuck, I don't know about that but what does it mean if that wasn't the case? I think it could mean that the BLM movement is rejecting the candidate that is best equipped to advance their cause, and that, if true, gives me a sad because he is the best candidate to address what I care about in addition to people being persecuted for breathing while black.
I've probably rambled on long enough to piss off everyone, so have at it. I remain totally confused by all this shit that just doesn't fit together. Like I don't have enough pieces of the puzzle for it to make sense.
Because Woody would so be there
I think Bernie's supporters should start singing "This Land Is Your Land" while waiting for Bernie to come to the stadium.
I suspect that Woody "This machine Kills Fascists" Guthrie would approve whole heartedly, both of the use of his epic song and Bernie's candidacy.
Plus what is more American than a sing-along? Maybe we should form filking groups for mass transit.
Why would you follow a weather vane?
It just shows you where the wind is coming from, spinning as the winds change. It won't help you escape the path of a storm.
When you need to know what direction to move, you need a compass. A pointer that is rock steady in where it aims without regard to the winds. A thing that has always pointed that direction. An instrument that can help you find your bearings and help you find a path to your goals.
