So what is the actual end goal with COVID?

Seems like some people are in a rage about the new CDC guidelines and lifting mask policies. What is the actual goal? That we should mask and social distance until COVID is completely gone and everyone is vaccinated? That will never happen, we have nearly half of our population simply refusing to get vaccinated because they believe in junk science. Covid is endemic now just like the seasonal cold and flu viruses, it will be with humanity until the end most likely and those who are vulnerable to it will gradually be removed from the gene pool in areas where there's no vaccination against it.

IMO I fully agree with the CDC and our president. We're at the point where vaccination rates are dropping due to lack of demand, and almost everyone who wants it can have one. It's time to open the country back up in full, and if the anti-vaxxers want to play the genetic "will I get super sick or die from covid?" lottery that's on them.

We can't keep doing this forever. We gotta get people back to work, start enjoying restaurants/movies/concerts/events with friends again, and go back to what 'life' was only a few years ago.

Instagram star cat Ponzu dies in huge brawl in NYC park

Is it just me, or do people seem to be getting 'trashier' in our society? I mean wtf??? I read stories like this and I don't even know where to begin....
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9497217/Instagram-star-cat-Ponzu-dies-injuries-getting-yanked-young-boy.html
An Instagram star cat has died from injuries suffered during an altercation in a New York City park, which sparked a huge brawl which left his owners battered and bruised.

Ponzu, who has 23,000 followers on the social media site, died of a heart attack following the incident in McCarren park earlier this month.

The famous cat was being walked in the park by owner Chanan Aksornnan, 34, and her boyfriend along with her other pets - a dog, another cat and a bird - on April 4.

At some point, a boy aged around 12 is understood to have tripped over Ponzu's leash.

Aksornnan claims the boy intentionally pulled on the leash, dragging the cat along the ground and ripping out its claws before flinging him into the air.

Ponzu, who had a heart condition, suffered a heart attack and died at the scene.

That led to an altercation between Ponzu's owner and the boy's large family, which soon turned violent.

Cellphone footage from the incident shows Aksornnan being punched and kicked on the ground by a crowd of people.

One man in the video also appears to pull her dog's tail.

Police have confirmed they are hunting for one suspect, described as 'a white female Hispanic, 5’7”, 200 lbs., with red hair and a pony tail'. No arrests have been made.

The cat owner's boyfriend - who has not been named - is also said to have been injured during the assault.

Aksornnan said the suspect told her: 'This is what you [get] when you walk you f*****g cat b***h.'

Aksornnan told Greenpointers: 'The family not only did not offer any apology nor remorse.

'They immediately began a verbal abuse which escalated into a physical assault.'

A 6-year-old Texas girl was fatally shot by a relative following an argument over spilled water, according to the NBC affiliate in Houston.
Police in Pasadena, a city southeast of Houston, said officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex around 11:30 a.m. Friday, KPRC-TV reported. A male family member of Laurionne Walker, 6, shot the girl multiple times, police said.
"I'm at a loss for words right now," Earline House, Laurionne's grandmother told the news station. "My granddaughter was still a baby. She got shot twice in the chest this morning."

Laurionne was taken to a hospital, where she later died of her injuries, KPRC reported.

On Saturday, Pasadena police charged Raymeon Means, 35, with capital murder in connection with the girl's death. Police said he remains in custody with no bond, KPRC reported.

Mom of three working side job as Uber Eats driver killed by 14-year-old boys, say police

Horrible...Why, just why? Personally I'd say those 14 year olds should be locked away for life, but sadly they'll probably get out earlier because they're 'juveniles'. Anyone doing this kind of stuff at 14 is someone I don't want out there in society.

Woman Accused of Refusing to Pay for Restaurant Food Allegedly Killed Teen Who Defended Server

What the hell is wrong with people lately? Killing each other over disputes about cold food now?

A 28-year-old woman has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting an 18-year-old man to death during a large brawl in the parking lot of an Aurora, Colo., restaurant, PEOPLE confirms.

Jacqueline De Paz, 28, was charged Friday with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Rudy Arguello-Rios outside the Mariscos El Rey 2 Restaurant.

According to an Aurora police press release, De Paz was among a group of seven people who threatened to leave the eatery without paying — allegedly complaining to their server that their food was cold because of an opened door and the restaurant's outdoor vents.

Witnesses told investigators an argument between the guests and the server erupted inside the restaurant before spilling into the parking lot, according to police.

The server followed the patrons outside, demanding they pay the bill and threatening to call 911, say police.

The argument got physical when the women in the group allegedly confronted the server after she started taking pictures of their cars and license plates, say police.

It was at that point that customers from a nearby table exited the restaurant to come to the server's defense. According to police, the brawl splintered into two groups: women fighting women, and men fighting men.

According to police, one witness described seeing Arguello-Rios being attacked and knocked to the ground. Another witness recalled to police that, in the same instant, De Paz allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed at the crowd. Police say Arguello-Rios noticed this, and "stood up and ran toward" De Paz to try and take the gun away from her.

Witnesses reported hearing a gun go off. Arguello-Rios, witnesses said, didn't speak a word to his alleged killer, and was unarmed at the time of the shooting, police say.

Arguello-Rios was rushed to the Medical Center of Aurora where he later died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police allege De Paz and the rest of the group fled the area immediately after the shooting.

We're far from out of the woods, Trump will try to burn it all down on his way out

I fully expect him to do everything in his power to leave the country as an utterly unfixable wreck so the Republicans can blame joe in two years when it's not fixed. He'll veto any further stimulus and do everything he can to hinder the covid containment effort.

Inside the New Coronavirus Relief Bill: a Total Eviction Moratorium

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-03/house-coronavirus-relief-bill-would-ban-evictions
The $2.2 trillion stimulus package passed by House Democrats includes a complete ban on eviction and foreclosure filings for 12 months.
On Oct. 1, just hours before the first reports of the news that President Donald Trump had tested positive for Covid-19, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a $2.2 trillion coronavirus relief package. Among the elements in the bill: a complete ban on eviction filings over nonpayment. That’s a far stronger action than Congress or the White House has taken previously.

The legislation that Democratic lawmakers passed would prevent landlords from filing evictions for nonpayment for a full year after the bill is passed. It would further prohibit foreclosures over nonpayment over the same period and enact automatic forbearance for delinquent borrowers to address the needs of struggling homeowners.

Now I'm all in favor of helping the poor out and being compassionate, but what exactly are landlords expected to do? My family has two rental properties and this could create some utter nightmares for us if it passes and we get tenants refusing to pay rent with no way to evict them.

What in the world is up with the stock market

It's just rocketing up in a straight vertical line like none of the big problems are real. Valuations on certain companies like Tesla and zoom have gone into the realm of loony toons level craziness. Zoom is valued higher than Boeing? Really? We're headed to fresh all-time highs daily in the middle of the worst economic conditions we've never seen. I'm convinced that chairman Powell is a traitor doing whatever it takes to reelect Trump regardless if the future.

Fresh all-time highs on the Scamdaq

Honestly I can't wait for the extended unemployment to end and for this mother of all bubbles to burst. Never before have I SEEN such a disconnect between the stock market and economy. The tech sector is absolute white hot while the fundamentals of our country have never been worse. It was bad enough having income inequality, but now we have stock inequality as well. It's like 10 tech stocks are all that matters anymore in this country. I mean hey, we can obviously just be a country with everyone is paid to stay home and order stuff off Amazon while watching Netflix and Youtube all day. What could ever go wrong?

Apparently we just needed a pandemic for the best stock market ever

NASDAQ broke 10k today on news of interest rates staying at 0 for years to come, and Tesla now has a bigger market cap than Toyota despite not making any money and selling like 1/50th of the cars. Peak irrational exuberance is here.
