With Trump the world is not enough

With Trump no amount of power, money and adulation can fill the emptiness in his soul.

That was clear once again last night during his New Hampshire victory speech. Despite winning by 10 points and effectively locking up the Republican nomination, he looked agitated and miserable.

Most normal people would be thrilled to win a presidential primary election. Trump didn't smile or laugh. All he did was whine and make threats. And make his former opponents grovel in front of him on stage.

This is a guy who was the most powerful man on the planet for 4 years and complained the entire time about being treated unfairly.

That's why it's baffling he's trying so hard to become President again. He hated the job. He hated the responsibilities. And if he gets back in the White House he still won't be satisfied.

With billionaire trust fund man babies like Trump the world is not enough. He's gotten away with an insurrection, stealing classified documents and a lifetime of corruption. Now he wants presidential immunity so he can commit even more crimes.

Nothing will make this guy happy because he's too psychologically damaged to experience joy and contentment. He'll keep trying to fill that void by making anyone who dislikes him miserable. That's what truly motivates him.

Irony is Haley would be harder for Biden to beat

The irony about the 2024 election is, at least according to polls, it would be more difficult for President Biden to defeat any Republican nominee other than Trump.

However the thought of Trump being the Republican nominee and therefore within a coin flip of winning back the White House is so terrifying I honestly wish Republicans would nominate anyone but him.

With the electoral college Biden could win the popular vote by 10 million and still "lose" to Trump. Imagine the psychological effect that will have on our country and our allies.

They already don't fully understand how in the "greatest democracy on earth" Trump became President in 2016 despite Hillary receiving nearly 3 million more votes. And 4 years later how he was acquitted by the Senate for inciting an insurrection despite losing the vote 57 to 42.

Even if Biden had a 60% approval rating I'd still be nervous about Trump possibly winning.

This is going to be a tough general election. Not because a majority of Americans are desperate to re-elect Donald Trump. But because with the unfair electoral college, Republicans control of the House and MAGA friendly judges the will of the people could easily be overturned. Which is why Trump can't stop smiling like a cheshire cat lately. He knows the entire system is rigged in his favor.

Jan 6 made Trumpers love him even more

I remember thinking that after Trump's actions on January 6th that no American could continue to ignore the fact that he was a deranged traitor who belongs in a mental institution and not the white house. That his political career was over and that he'd be prosecuted for his attempt to overthrow democracy and barred from holding public office.

3 years later I'm convinced that Trump's attempted coup has only made his supporters love him even more.

They admire that he fought relentlessly to try to stay in office and overturn the election results. They think January 6th showed Trump's toughness and their only disappointment is that he didn't succeed.

If Trump had gracefully conceded in November 2020 and allowed a peaceful transition of power his supporters may have abandoned him and seen him as a coward for recognizing Joe Biden as the new President and attending his inauguration.

With Trump winning Iowa and heading towards his third presidential nomination in a row it's become clear that Trump's Big Lie and Stop The Steal grift has succeeded. The fact his popularity among Republicans increased after he was indicted for his actions on January 6th tells you all you need to know.

The Republican party is now pro-insurrection and any independent who casts a ballot for Trump is cool with having an insurrectionist as President.

The founders never imagined a Donald Trump

Our founders never imagined Americans actually supporting someone like Donald Trump for President. How could they?

They put as many protections and safeguards that they could to prevent a king from taking over the government.

They thought congress, the courts and most of all the voters would stop someone like Trump from destroying democracy and becoming an autocrat.

However they didn't foresee a major political party surrendering to the autocrat and blocking congress, the judiciary and even the electorate from removing him from power and barring him from holding public office.

The framers did put in a system of checks and balances to sustain our democracy. However the Republican party has swatted everyone of those down.

The question is now how low will Trump supporters and enablers go in service to one man. When Trump loses and refuses to concede or wins and refuses to leave. How will the MAGAs react? That's the only real mystery about the 2024 election. If the last 8 years are any indicator our democracy is in for one major stress test.

Republican voters could end all this

Republican voters could put an end to all these difficult legal questions about the 14th amendment and presidential immunity very easily...

By NOT nominating a candidate for President who's facing 91 felony charges and who courts have found engaged in an insurrection against the United States government.

The framers of our constitution never imagined a political party in our country actually voting for an insurrectionist who's under criminal indictment for among other things stealing classified documents. They figured such a traitor would be rejected by the majority of Americans and punished by the courts.

It's not too late for Republicans to vote for someone else. I imagine a lot of them would be secretly thrilled if the Supreme Court upheld the Colorado ruling and disqualified Trump from running again.

If not Republicans will spend 2024 defending the indefensible and having to explain to voters why insurrection and felony indictments are no big deal.

I have zero faith in SCOTUS doing the right thing but Republican primary voters still have one last off ramp from Trump and they should take it.

If Biden dropped out "Dems in disarray"

Can you imagine what the headlines would be if President Biden gave the media what they desperately want and dropped out of the 2024 race?

The beltway press and political pundits are dying for a more exciting horse race to boost ratings and sales and find covering a Biden vs Trump rematch boring.

And the disaffected Americans who don't like Biden also have no idea who should be the Democrats nominee instead. They're just mad at everyone in Washington.

So if Biden did announce he won't seek another term the news media, after setting off fireworks, would immediately shift their narrative to, "open Democratic presidential primaries create chaos for party" and "can any Democrat actually beat Trump?"

And the voters turning on Biden don't like Harris either. They honestly want a miracle worker as President who can waive a magic and eliminate all student loan debt, get Putin and Hamas to stop acting psychotic and solve economic and immigration issues unilaterally.

And honestly if Biden beats Trump the week after the headlines will be, "Is Trump going to run again in 2028?" The media needs Trump a lot more than he needs them.

Just think one year from now...

One year from now we'll be in one of two places.

One. Joe Biden will have been re-elected. Defeating Donald Trump for the second time. And Democrats and
never-Trumpers will be able to breathe a sigh of relief. As a bonus we'll get to look forward to years of Trump being on trial in several states and hopefully convicted in every single one.

Two. Donald Trump will have been elected President. And President Biden, being a good man and defender of democracy, will graciously concede defeat and begin an orderly transition of power.

And millions of people in America and around the world who hate Trump and understand what a psychopath he is will have to try to mentally prepare (once again) for 4 years of his misery, insanity, instability and cruelty. And wonder if they'll actually survive a second Trump term and if he'll ever voluntarily leave office again.

America has never faced 2 clearer paths in an election. Hopefully that because crystal clear when primary season starts and Trump's insanity will be in their faces everyday.

Grateful every day Biden is President

Every day since Joe Biden was elected President I've been grateful. There's 376 days until the next Presidential election and I'm going to savor every one.

That's because every minute, hour, day, week, month and year Donald Trump isn't President of the United States is a great one for our country and democracy.

The thought of Trump returning to the oval office is terrifying and should concern any sane American. Unfortunately millions of our fellow citizens have a crazy, pathological devotion to the guy.

To borrow a 12 step slogan I just try to take life in America one day at a time. And remember to appreciate every day Trump is in a courthouse and not the white house .

Anybody else naively think that after the attack

Anybody else think after Israel was attacked that Republicans might actually put politics aside and try to bring the country together in unity against the evil Hamas?

I thought we'd at least get 24 hours where all Americans would rally around the flag and support Israel. And direct their anger towards the people who deserved it.

Instead, within hours Republicans had prepared their "blame Biden" talking points and the media ran with the BS narrative.

I really shouldn't be surprised by how low the MAGA Republicans will go to beat up on Biden and score political points using lies but it's still disappointing.

Republicans now seem to hate Democrats more than the militant terrorists killing innocent women and children. Quite a change from our national response to 9/11.

We could have had 2 years of peace and quiet

We could have had 2 years of peace and quiet in Washington DC. If Democrats had just kept control the House. Instead American voters chose chaos over competence. All because the price of gas and groceries were high.

They can't say they weren't warned. House Republicans spelled out exactly what they were going to do if they took back power and had no plans to improve the economy or lower inflation.

If a half a dozen seats had flipped our way we wouldn't be having to endure one self inflicted economic crisis after another and endless sham hearings based on conspiracy theories.

And most importantly the House would be led ny Jeffries, Clark and Aguilera and not Marjorie Taylor Greene, Donald Trump and the most spineless speaker in US history.

America and our allies would have enjoyed 2 years of a functional government. We were so close but here we are... headed for a government shutdown and impeachment of our President based on absolutely nothing.

Hopefully we can get it right in 2024 and vote these MAGA Republicans out of office for good.
