No powder found in envelope taken from gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake's campaign office

Source: Arizona Republic

Phoenix police confirmed Friday that no powder was found inside an envelope sent to Kari Lake’s campaign office on Nov. 5.

Ross Trumble, a spokesperson for the Lake campaign, told The Republic that a campaign staffer opened an envelope delivered to the office near 40th Street and Camelback Road in Phoenix that contained "suspicious white powder."

The envelopes were sent to a state lab for testing, according to Phoenix police.

“The state lab tested the items turned over to them,” said Donna Rossi, communications director for Phoenix Police Department. The lab "determined there was no substance inside.”

Police should look into whether Lake used these empty envelopes as a hoax to gain sympathy and cause voters to suspect Democrats tried to harm her.

South Korea to Sell Arms to U.S. for Ukrainian Forces Fighting Russia

Source: Wall Street Journal

South Korea will for the first time sell artillery shells destined for Ukrainian forces through a confidential arms deal between Seoul and Washington, a move that reflects a global scramble for munitions after months of war with Russia.

U.S. officials familiar with the deal said that the U.S. will purchase 100,000 rounds of 155 mm artillery that will be delivered to Ukraine, enough to supply Ukraine's artillery units for at least several weeks of intensive combat.

Routing the deal through the U.S. allows South Korea to stick to the letter of its public commitment not to send lethal military support to Ukraine while assisting Washington, Seoul's paramount ally in deterring North Korea.

The South Korean-provided arms will enable the U.S. to supply the Ukrainians without digging deeper into the American inventory of artillery stocks, which U.S. officials have acknowledged are dwindling quickly. In August, the stockpile of U.S. 155 mm artillery rounds had fallen to levels that concerned the Pentagon as Ukraine engaged in fierce artillery duels with the Russian forces, and U.S. officials say the situation is considerably worse today.
South Korea Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup met with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin earlier this month and agreed in principle to proceed with the artillery deal. Officials at the South Korean Embassy in Washington had no immediate comment.

Biden should campaign partly on student loan forgiveness. A Trump judge struck it down

If Biden and Trump clash in 2024, it should be stressed that this is Trump's fault.
Also, can Biden extend the pause on loan payments again?
He should do it over and over if it is within his abilities.

Trump attacks DeSantis amid positive press: 'An average Republican governor'

Source: The Hill

Former President Trump released a statement on Thursday slamming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for being an “average” governor and “playing games” amid a wave of positive press for DeSantis following the midterm elections.

“NewsCorp, which is Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post (bring back Col!), is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious, an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations,” wrote Trump, repeating a nickname he first used for the governor last week. Col Allan, the former editor in chief of the New York Post, retired in 2016.

Trump attributed DeSantis’s political success as governor to the weather in his state, saying that he “has the advantage of SUNSHINE, where people from badly run States up North would go no matter who the Governor was, just like I did!”

The former president claimed that his endorsement of DeSantis won him the Florida gubernatorial election in 2018.

Dow pops 1,200 points, S&P 500 jumps 5% in biggest rally in two years after light inflation report

Source: CNBC

Stocks mounted their biggest rally since 2020 after October’s reading of consumer prices raised investor hopes that inflation has peaked.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1,201.43 points, or 3.7%, to 33,715.37 for its biggest one-day gain since stocks were emerging from the depths of the pandemic bear market. The S&P 500 jumped 5.54% to 3,956.37 in its biggest rally since April 2020. The Nasdaq Composite surged 7.35%, its best since March 2020, closing at 11,114.15.

October’s consumer price index rose just 0.4% for the month and 7.7% from a year ago, its lowest annual increase since January and a slowdown from the 8.2% annual pace in the prior month. Economists were expecting increases of 0.6% and 7.9%, according to Dow Jones. Excluding volatile food and energy costs, so-called core CPI increased 0.3% for the month and 6.3% on an annual basis, also less than expected.

Treasury yields plunged after the CPI report, with the 10-year Treasury yield falling roughly 30 basis points to 3.824% as traders bet the Federal Reserve would slow its aggressive tightening campaign that’s weighed on markets all year. The yield on the 2-year Treasury dropped more than 29 basis points to 4.332% (1 basis point equals 0.01%). The U.S. Dollar
, another recent pressure point for stocks, tumbled to its worst day since 2009 versus a basket of other currencies.

I remember when pundits agreed: "Fetterman's debate performance was horrible!"

As Fetterman extends his lead to 4% as I type this, here’s Time Magazine’s senior correspondent:

I'm going to send Trump links to articles praising Desantis

We need to exploit Trump’s narcissism, as well as Ron DeSantis narcissism.
That’s the only good use I could think of for TruthSocial.
Narcissists don’t want any competition whatsoever. if Trump were a team player, he would be happy about Desantis’ big victory in Florida. But narcissists are not team players.

Let’s add fuel to the fire.

Trafalgar had Whitmer losing by 1%. She's won and is up by 10% with 95% counted

And that's just one of the many horrible forecasts that Trafalgar (A-, Nate Silver) made.
He was the only pollster showing the New Mexico Governor race going to the Republican (Ronchetti). The Democrat Lujan Grisham won and is up by 6% with 95% of votes counted.
