Had a problem with Dish TV. Called customer service.

Got a guy with a bit of a Hispanic accent.
He tried his best to sell me more services that
1. I don't need, and
2. Can't afford.

Eventually we got my problem fixed.
"Unplug the box for 10 seconds. etc, etc,etc
Why didn't I think of that?
It worked.
Reception back.

"Where are you?"
"Mexico."
"Really? Where?"
Something I couldn't understand.
"Where?"
"It's a very small town."
"Bless your heart. What do you think about the wall that tRump wants to build?"
"Thank you. Can I help you with anything else?"

Poor bastard.

So maybe you'd like to tell the Alabama governor what you think about her support of Moore?

Her name is Kay Ivey.
She is the governor because she happened to be the Lieutenant Governor when the corrupt governor Robert Bentley resigned just ahead of an impeachment posse (a la Nixon). She seem to be somewhat befuddled and overwhelmed by her newfound 'power' and is also rumored a teeny bit of a dipsomaniac (look it up).

In case you missed it, she said she has no reason to disbelieve the women who have come forward with charges against Moore.
BUT, she will still vote for a pedophile because it's much more important that Republicans maintain a majority in the senate.

If you'd like to 'appear' to be an Alabamian, a Montgomery zip code is 36117.
Of course I'm not suggesting you should falsify information.
no no no

Any way, here you are:

Presidents who should have resigned because of a sexual dalliance:*

*According to today's moral judgement.

Rumored and/or proven, before or during their time in office.

George Washington (slave)
Thomas Jefferson (slave)
Chester A. Arthur
Grover Cleveland (child out of wedlock)
Warren G. Harding
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Dwight David Eisenhower
John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Lyndon Baines Johnson
George H.W. Bush
William Jefferson Clinton
Donald John Trump

I'm just guessing that there are more that we don't know about.

What's your point?
My point is that men/people who seek (and achieve) power over others are as susceptible to hormonal influences(?), urges, drives, whatever as the rest of us.
But... there seems to be something about BEING in a position of power that short circuits the restraints that most of us have.

Harry S. Truman didn't have it.
Jimmy Carter didn't have it.
Barack Obama didn't have it.
And to give credit where credit is due, George W. Bush didn't have it.

Comments?
Discussion?
Thanks.

Everything you ever wanted to know about 'Body Armor' (flak jackets)

The new Interceptor body armor was worn by soldiers and Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Army and Marines rushed to get enough body armor into Iraq and Afghanistan by December 2003 for everyone who needed it, as fast as it came off the assembly line. For the Marines, the PASGT flak vest gave way to the new Interceptor body armor-an effective and highly valued piece of gear in the global war on terrorism. Because the Interceptor body armor was in relative short supply, deploying service members got priority at their points of issue. Accounting for two armor plates for each Marine in the ground combat element, the Marines fielded 94,056 plates for active forces and 39,284 for reserve forces.

Interceptor Flak Vest Ballistic Protection
The Interceptor's inter-changeable components give troops the ability to dress to the level of a particular threat.
By itself, the Interceptor vest insulates a soldier from shrapnel and 9-mm pistol rounds. When the protective Small Arms Protective Inserts (SAPI) are added, the system acts as a ballistic barrier to 7.62-mm rifle ammunition. The PASGT flak vest only offered protection against fragmentation.

The Interceptor outer tactical vest consists of a very fine Kevlar weave that will stop 9mm pistol rounds. Webbing on the front and back of the vest permits attaching such equipment as grenades, walkie-talkies and pistols. The Small Arms Protective Insert (SAPI) is made of a boron carbide ceramic with a spectra shield backing, an extremely hard material. It stops, shatters and catches any fragments up to a 7.62 mm round with a muzzle velocity of 2,750 feet per second. It's harder than Kevlar. The four pound high-technology plates cost approximately $350 each to produce, a considerable cost reduction achieved by Army-industry cooperation.

A major upgrade effort to make Interceptor with SAPI standard issue for body armor was completed in early 2004. Between 2.0 and 2.5 million SAPI plates were issued. Additional protection was added for upper arm and underarm areas in the form of the Groin Protector (two sizes), the one-size Deltoid and Axillary Protector (DAP), and the Enhanced Side Ballistic Insert (ESBI) or side SAPI (SSAPI). Other components include the Yoke and Collar Assembly (eight sizes; X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, XX-Large, XXX-Large, XXXX-Large) and the one-size Throat Protector.

I defy anyone to 'grope' a person wearing one of these.
PERIOD
NO. WAY.

Why are we so quick to rush to judgement on Al Franken?

Why are we so willing to accept one woman's word on what happened?
Especially a woman who is associated with (works for) right wing media?
Franken has been caught up in the Weinstein/Moore et al tsunami of #metoo.

It's good that this rock has been turned over.
But until I see something more than an obvious gag photo, no matter if you think it's in bad taste or not, and a 'she said' to convict Franken, I'm cutting him some slack.

Everything I know and have read about him tells me he is not this guy.
Not a perv.
A decent human being.
Even his handling of this situation is just plain...decent.

Try groping someone through a flak jacket.

Go ahead, I'll wait.
.
.
.
.
.
Yep, it's like groping your refrigerator.

IT'S A GAG PHOTO.
Look closely.
He's mugging for the camera.
You can see the shadows of his hands on the jacket.
If he were actually TOUCHING the jacket there would be no shadows.

Oh yeah, his accuser has appeared on Hannity and works at a right wing talk station. Just sayin'.

Got my Nomex long johns on.
Flame away.

Roy Moores Neo-Confederate Sugar Daddy Has Deep Ties To Secessionists

Alabama Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore’s top supporter is a hardline Confederate sympathizer with longtime ties to a secessionist group.

Michael Anthony Peroutka (pictured on the right above, with Moore in 2011) has given Moore, his foundation and his campaigns well over a half-million dollars over the past decade-plus. He’s also expressed beliefs that make even Moore’s arguably theocratic anti-gay and anti-Muslim views look mainstream by comparison. Chief among them: He’s argued that the more Christian South needs to secede and form a new Biblical nation.

Peroutka, a 2004 Constitution Party presidential nominee who in 2014 won a seat as a Republican on the county commission in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, spent years on the board of the Alabama-based League of the South, a southern secessionist group which for years has called for a southern nation run by an “Anglo-Celtic” elite. The Southern Poverty Law Center designates the League of the South as a hate group (a designation Peroutka regularly jokes about). That organization, after Peroutka left, was one of the organizers of the Charlottesville protests last summer that ended in bloodshed.

Army lifts ban on recruits with mental health history

Source: USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — People with a history of “self-mutilation,” bipolar disorder, depression and drug and alcohol abuse can now seek waivers to join the Army under an unannounced policy enacted in August, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY.

The decision to open Army recruiting to those with mental health conditions comes as the service faces the challenging goal of recruiting 80,000 new soldiers through September 2018. To meet last year's goal of 69,000, the Army accepted more recruits who fared poorly on aptitude tests, increased the number of waivers granted for marijuana use and offered hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses.

Expanding the waivers for mental health is possible in part because the Army now has access to more medical information about each potential recruit, Lt. Col. Randy Taylor, an Army spokesman, said in a statement. The Army issued the ban on waivers in 2009 amid an epidemic of suicides among troops.

Well, THAT'S encouraging.
Just imagine being on patrol in some middle eastern desert and wondering if the new guy who just transferred in is one of the 'mentals'?
