There is a ton of information in the new Reuters/Ipsos poll.
but to me the biggest news is that among independents, Trump has 38% approval and 58% disapproval.
It's on page 8 of this very interesting slideshow. It also shows among all adults, Trump has 41% approve and 57% disapprove.

Second Choices: Bernie or Biden? (Asking for a friend)
Recently a friend (a huge Bernie Supporter) wrote to me the following:
"When some of these candidates drop out of the race where are their supporters going to turn? All the "non-Biden" candidates are significantly left of center compared to Biden. Why would they abandon this Progressive stance to support him? His policies are diametrically opposed to most of the policies of these other candidates."
His conclusion is that as many candidates drop out, their supporters will flock to Bernie. This means Bernie's true support is much higher than the polls show.
Is this right? Can anyone back that up with data?

McCabe Says Mueller Spoke Out Because Trump and Barr Misrepresented His Report
Andrew McCabe said that in his view Robert Mueller spoke out because he was concerned about the way that Trump and Barr distorted his report.
McCabe said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, “You know my experience with Director Mueller is that he’s probably the last person on Earth that wants to engage in a tit for tat counterpoint with the Attorney General. The Attorney General who for this function was his boss and as we know is a personal friend. However, Director Mueller would not have come out and made the statement he made yesterday and would not have written the letter he sent to Attorney General Barr after completing the report if he wasn’t concerned the way his results of his team had been misrepresented by the Attorney General’s original comments. This was Bob Mueller’s way of very clearly underlining what he thought the most important aspects of the work were and I think this is the statement that Americans should focus on.”
Mueller’s statement was clearly intended to knock down the false claims by Barr and Trump about his findings. Mueller took on Trump’s claim of no collusion no obstruction. He debunked Barr’s exoneration of Trump on obstruction of justice. He discussed why he couldn’t indict Trump and tried to turn the country’s attention back to the Russian threat to our elections.
Trump and Barr lied about Mueller’s findings, so the special counsel set the record straight, which is a perfect example of how Donald Trump’s lies are prolonging a scandal that Republicans are trying to make go away.

When becoming president, Trump said the following with his hand on a Bible:
“I, Donald Trump, do solemnly swear and affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”
He should be impeached simply because he has totally failed to live up to this solemn oath, and in the process he is irreparably harming the United States.
He needs to get out of office Now!
CNN: "The incredible shrinking ... Bernie Sanders?"
Interesting article on CNN about Bernie's campaign in 2020 compared to 2016.
Polls (yep, it's early, we know) show Sanders losing support, as others such as Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris gain ground. A Monmouth University national poll released last week shows Sanders with the support of 15% of Democratic-leaning voters, a decline of 25% from March. A Monmouth poll of New Hampshire shows Biden with a 20-point lead over Sanders, roughly the same margin he beat Clinton by in the state in 2016.
In conversations recently with about a dozen voters who showed up at his events during his longest New Hampshire swing, it's clear that the kind of ride-or-die support Sanders had in 2016 has dissipated a bit. To some of his former supporters, he is just another candidate, the revolutionary front man who launched a thousand cover bands.
"He brought so much into the conversation, if he did nothing else," said Felice Burstein, 64, who voted for Sanders in 2016, and recently saw Cory Booker. "But I'm on the fence now, exploring. It's too early to tell. I worry that he's older and I'm not sure the country is ready for his ideas."

Sanders' Supporters May Revolt at Convention and Damage Democratic Nominee
According to this article, Sanders supporters "say they are not afraid to stage another revolt at the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, even if doing so damages the party’s nominee ahead of the general election contest against President Trump."
Some Bernie backers are livid, and they claim there is some type of sabotage afoot. For hardcore Sanders supporters, Mr. Biden’s early domination of the race smacks of 2016, when the Democratic National Committee attempted to sabotage Mr. Sanders and clear the way to the nomination for Mrs. Clinton.
“The mainstream media and the DNC are colluding against the American people. That’s what it feels like. It’s the same thing all over again,” said Laurie Cestnick, a Sanders supporter who founded Occupy DNC to protest the nomination of Mrs. Clinton at the party’s 2016 convention in Philadelphia.
If they feel jilted again, Ms. Cestnick and fellow activists say they are not afraid to stage another revolt at the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, even if doing so damages the party’s nominee ahead of the general election contest against President Trump.
Sanders backers already mistrust polls that show Mr. Biden with a commanding lead and the news organizations that have put a spotlight on the former VP since he joined the race April 25. “People are becoming more upset and becoming more firm behind Bernie due to mainstream media not covering a lot of his events and the strong push for Biden,” Ms. Cestnick said. “Is 2016 going to happen all over again? It is sure feeling like it. But I tell you, they are going to see a fight like they have never seen before.”

This is one reason many traditional Democrats are not fond of Bernie Sanders and his supporters.
Bernie Sanders' Biggest Problem: He better fix it or he's doomed
According to POLITICO, "'Sanders needs to find a way to connect with longer established Democratic voters, and that’s older voters."
In the latest Morning Consult weekly tracking poll, Sanders leads Biden by 12 points among Democratic primary voters under 30, and Biden has only a 1-point lead among voters aged 30-44. But Biden leads Sanders by 44 points among seniors, 53 percent to 9 percent.
Bernie Sanders, 77, has a problem with old people. In poll after poll, he places a distant second behind former Vice President Joe Biden among the senior set, the demographic that has long had more sway over who becomes president than any other. His campaign acknowledges it's a problem and is trying — so far, unsuccessfully — to fix it. It’s a familiar issue for the septuagenarian senator: In 2016, Sanders won more voters from young people than Hillary Clinton and President Donald Trump combined. But Clinton crushed him among older Americans at the ballot box, denying him the nomination.
The possibility of the same weakness thwarting Sanders’ second bid for the White House looms over his campaign. Sanders’ team knows he needs to do better among older voters. The campaign is scheduling events to attract more elderly voters, including one on Thursday at a seniors community center in Nevada, and his aides are optimistic that his plans to expand Social Security and Medicare benefits will help.
But some of the same qualities that have made Sanders a folk hero among millennials could be repelling seniors. His embrace of democratic socialism and calls for a political revolution are likely a tougher sell to many older voters who lived through the Cold War and are generally more conservative. And in a year when Democrats just want to beat President Donald Trump, the Vermont independent is seen by some Democrats as less electable than, say, Joe Biden.
“Sanders needs to find a way to connect with longer established Democratic voters, and that’s older voters,” said Bhaskar Sunkara, a Sanders supporter who founded the socialist magazine Jacobin and is a former vice chairman of Democratic Socialists of America. “It's tricky. Biden has higher perceptions of electability, and it could be hard to convince people they should be voting for Bernie when they're already familiar with this other guy, and their main concern is getting Trump out of office."

In light of the fact that anti-Biden forces are scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for things to attack him on, I thought maybe people could help me make a list of the good things he's done. Then we can compare the two sides of the ledger and see if he is worthy of being the Democratic Party standard-bearer.

Is Pelosi Waiting for "An Ironclad Case" before moving forward on Impeachment?
She seems to be saying that.
Here's what she said today:
This morning we heard a patriotic American make his presentation. I have the deepest respect for special counsel — well former special counsel Mueller and what he had to say. He indicated if he saw any evidence that the president was innocent, he would have let us know. If he had any evidence that the president was not guilty, he would have let us know, but he didn’t. I think that was very, very important. I have the deepest respect for him and thank him and his team for the presentation of facts that will further lead us to help us in the Congress, in the courts. This is a very valuable contribution. I’m gravely disappointed in the justice department for their attitude, misrepresentation of the Mueller report to begin with. They are hiding behind something that you could never find in the constitution that the president is above the law and their misrepresentations even under oath by the attorney general to the Congress of the United States.
We will continue on our path which was led by our six chairmen. Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Elijah Cummings, Maxine Waters. All of them have a piece of this. Last week we had three victories in the courts. One Elijah Cummings, the president’s accountant, they have to share the information. Two Maxine Waters which is they have to share the information and three not related to the Russian investigation or related to other problems we have with the president and his view of the Constitution. The court said that he can’t use Defense Department money to build his wall.

Where they will lead us, we shape see — Shall see. Nothing is off the table, but we do want to make a compelling case, such an ironclad case, that even the Republican Senate which seems to be not an objective jury will be convinced of the path that we have to take as a country.
