NoveltySocks's JournalHow to prepare for what's to come?
As the initial shock begins to wear off (and it will take time), what contingency plans should we each be making to try and weather what may come? For example:
1) Is there a list of vaccines that we should be considering while we still can?
2) What financial moves should we be making over the next two months?
3) What steps should we be taking in the interest of personal safety?
These are just three major considerations that are on my mind as I start to wake up to what I'd hoped was just a nightmare. Anyone have any advice? What other questions should be considered?
The weird anti-woman party keeps on giving (Montana GOP Senate candidate)
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/montana-senate-candidate-tim-sheehy-women-indoctrinated-abortion-rcna174390Montana Senate candidate Tim Sheehy, who is locked in a highly consequential race with Democratic incumbent Jon Tester, said in newly unearthed audio that the Republican Party needs to do a better job at winning over young women, who he said have been indoctrinated" for years on the issue of abortion.
"Young people, listen up, theyve been indoctrinated for too long. We dont even try to talk to them anymore," Sheehy said at an event in late 2023, according to audio obtained by NBC News.
Hopefully this helps Tester!
An embarrassment of riches
I was talking to a friend about potential VP picks today, and we were unable to pick a favorite. None of the top contenders made us go "eh" or "meh," let alone "ugh."
It occurred to me then just how lucky we Democrats are that there are so many great options. I've had so much fun learning about the different potential VP candidates, and what they mean to their respective states. I'm excited to see who Kamala picks!
I take it that Don the Con did NOT break the applause record?
NGL, I was hoping his lackeys would be roaming the aisles with paddles and cattle prods to keep everyone on their feet and clapping for at least an hour.
Everyone who's Riding with Biden (like me!) get in here and tell us why!
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm in the mood for a positivity thread and figured I'd start one. I am 100% with Joe because he's sane, competent, has a great record of achievements, and has the metric fuckton of experience that's needed to navigate the current global and domestic land/hellscape. Dark Brandon is just the icing on the cake (which obviously comes with ice cream).
Now I gotta get OUT there and spread the word. Who's with me?
Shake-ups at CBS News and CNN
CNN is reportedly cutting roughly 100 jobs (of about 3,500 total). CBS News' president is out, but is staying on as a consultant through the election.

#TrumpPedoFiles has been trending on Xitter for about a day now.
With demands for reporting on Trump/Epstein and Project 2025. There are massive stories here, just waiting for any current/aspiring investigative journalist to take them on, if there are any left.
NYT "reporting" on Parkinson's experts visiting the WH like it's some scandal when
POTUS signed the Dr. Emmanuel Bilirakis and Honorable Jennifer Wexton National Plan to End Parkinsons Act into law on July 2.... This paper is ageist and ableist.

Genuine question: Isn't the media's coverage alienating their primary audience (older adults)?
From my millennial perspective, it seems like a bunch of privileged snobs (most of whom aren't exactly young themselves) are behaving in an extremely ageist manner. I believe the median age for all the major channels is around 70, so how does this coverage feel to the folks tuning in?
Possible reason for the NYT's relentless attacks on President Biden
This is my first time starting a discussion here, so my apologies if this has been posted and discussed before. An article came out back in late April about an apparent feud between the Biden administration and the NYT brass. Basically, they're big mad that POTUS won't sit down for an interview with their "prestigious" rag, and they're also pissy over some instances where they think the White House staff weren't appropriately deferential to them. So, they've been pushing hard on this "Biden is old" thing for some time. What a bunch of crybullies.
