U.S. gasoline prices fall to pre-Ukraine invasion levels
Source: Reuters
U.S. wholesale gasoline prices fell to their lowest levels since before Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Wednesday, suggesting motorists in the world's largest energy consumer will see lower pump prices in coming weeks.
U.S. gasoline futures fell as low as $2.5899 per gallon on Wednesday, the lowest since Feb. 18, just before Moscow invaded Ukraine, setting off a series of sanctions from the United States and its allies that boosted prices across the energy markets to multi-year highs.
Energy costs have been the primary driver of global inflation, with retail gasoline prices hitting an all-time record in the United States at more than $5 a gallon in mid-June.
Lack of spare refining capacity pushed costs for refined products higher, but headed into winter, gasoline prices have started to retreat as demand dips.

And since Biden controls gas prices according to the Right, I say.... Congratulations, Mr. President!
Georgia 2022: Walker Holds Two-Point Lead Over Warnock in Tight Senate Race; Kemp Leads Abrams by Fo
Source: Emerson Polling
The latest Emerson College Polling survey of the Georgia general election finds Senator Raphael Warnock trailing his Republican opponent, Herschel Walker by two points, 44% to 46%. Four percent plan to vote for someone else and 7% are undecided. Regardless of whom they support, 53% expect the incumbent Senator Warnock to win while 47% expect Walker to win. This reflects a tightening of the race since April, when the Emerson College poll had Walker ahead 49% to 45%.
Spencer Kimball, Executive Director of Emerson College Polling said, Walker leads Warnock among rural voters 58% to 24% while Warnock leads Walker 66% to 25% among urban voters. In the suburbs, voters are breaking for Walker by a nine-point margin, 50% to 41%.

Exclusive: Pennsylvania candidate Mastriano posed in Confederate uniform at Army War College
Source: Reuters
PHILADELPHIA, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Three years before retiring from the U.S. Army in 2017, Donald Trump-backed Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano posed in Confederate uniform for a faculty photo at the Army War College, according to a copy of the photo obtained by Reuters.
The previously unreported photo, released by the War College to Reuters after a request under the Freedom of Information Act, showed Mastriano in a 2013-14 portrait for the Department of Military Strategy, Plans, and Operations, where he worked.
Faculty at the time had been given the option of dressing as a historical figure, people familiar with the photo said. At least 15 of the 21 faculty in the photo opted to appear in regular attire. Although one man wears a trench coat and sunglasses and another carries an aviator's helmet,
Mastriano is the only one wearing a Confederate uniform. Mastriano did not immediately respond to requests for comment made by email and phone. A Reuters reporter attended a Mastriano event on Wednesday to seek comment, but the candidate did not make himself available for questions.

New CNN Chairman meets with Mitch McConnell and McCarthy, in attempt to "inject more balance"
Associated Press:
The news network, now under the Warner Discovery corporate banner and led since spring by CNN Worldwide Chairman Chris Licht, is trying to inject more balance into its programming and become less radioactive to Republicans. How and whether that can be accomplished remains a mystery.
...
Licht would like to see more Republicans appear on CNN for meaningful interviews, not necessarily to be used by them to appear tough to supporters for standing up to hostility. There have already been small signs of success in recent weeks: appearances by South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and Texas U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema Privately Blew Up Biden Nominee Needed to Enact Regulatory Agenda
Source: The Intercept
ARIZONA SEN. KYRSTEN SINEMA was the one to scuttle President Joe Bidens choice to head the obscure but all-important Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, according to sources familiar with the standoff.
The office was created to help speed or, more accurately, make somewhat less torturous the process of writing regulations, which requires input from the public, legal reviews, and coordination among a variety of agencies. The office will be crucial for implementing the Inflation Reduction Act, particularly its climate provisions, and with the House and Senate not guaranteed a Democratic majority come January, it could play an outsize role in carrying out Bidens agenda.
The Biden administration began vetting Ganesh Sitaraman, a law professor at Vanderbilt University, in 2021. On August 24, in a piece criticizing the Biden administration for dragging its feet, Politico reported that Sitaramans potential nomination ran into trouble amid concern that he couldnt win support from the moderate Democratic lawmakers needed to secure confirmation. In fact, two sources close to the situation told The Intercept, Sitaraman was on the cusp of being publicly nominated in early spring when Sinema informed the White House of last-minute hesitations, wanting to slow down the process. The sources were not authorized to speak publicly.

Desantis' felon fraud case disintegrating: Some were told BY GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS they could vote
And there's no evidence the rest thought they were ineligible:
Desantis will be embarrassed if these people charged with fraud are acquitted:
...
In order to get a conviction, prosecutors will have to prove the defendants knew they were ineligible when they registered and voted. They have yet to submit any evidence showing the defendants were explicitly warned their specific felonies barred them from voting.

Tell your friends: The Supreme Court might reject Biden's student loan forgiveness
It is extremely important to vote. If one of these conservatives judges retires or dies in The future, a majority Democratic Senate would confirm a democratic appointed Justice.
Read this, about decisions the supreme Court has made recently that hint at a real possibility of them limiting the executive authority once again.
t-Kept the CDC from enforcing an eviction moratorium due to the Covid-19 pandemic;
-OSHA from enforcing a vaccine mandate in workplaces; and
-The EPA from implementing proposed limits on greenhouse gasses.

What is "discretionary income"? (loan forgiveness question)
I like one of the provisions in President Biden's student loan forgiveness announcement. It caps monthly payments to 5% of discretionary income..
But when I googled the term I get two different definitions...
Some websites tell me that it means your income minus the taxes you pay. Sounds a lot like net income to me.
But other websites define it as income minus expenses.
That is, electricity bill,, phone bill, etc.
Which one is it?
